New Isolator XXX™ Column Delivers Increased SFC Purification Efficiency

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Thar Process Inc., global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced technologies for the extraction and purification of natural products, announces a new Isolator XXX(TM) phase for hemp/cannabis extract purification by supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC).

The Isolator(TM) series of column media (stationary phases) are specifically engineered for hemp/cannabis purification to allow Thar's customers to remediate their extracts from unwanted compounds such as pesticides/fungicides or THC; they work best when run on Isolator SFC(TM) series systems.

The novel Isolator XXX(TM) is a bonded silica-based stationary phase available in 10, 15 and 20 um sizes allowing for greater polar retention through a useful range of interaction mechanisms. Thar's Isolator SFC(TM) systems utilize dynamic axial compression (DAC) columns to allow for simple pack/re-packing of material - which allows users to switch applications daily if necessary.

Learn more:

"We developed the Isolator XXX phase to help customers who were struggling with retention time variability, inadequate column lifetimes, long run times, and low retention of highly non-polar compounds like cannabinoids," explained Lalit Chordia, PhD., CEO of Thar Process. "With these new phases specifically designed for the interaction between hemp extract moving through a column in CO2 with only 2% ethanol as a co-solvent - we can dramatically reduce the operating costs associated with making compliant and non-detectable Broad Spectrum CBD oils."

To ensure high reproducibility, each Thar Isolator XXX(TM) column and batch is certified by a stringent QC process comparing both analytical and DAC columns from the same batch. This ensures the applicability of this new media for commonly used types of detection such as UV-VIS, ELSD and MS. In addition to the selectivity and particle performance benefits, a simplified set of running conditions was developed for use with the Isolator XXX(TM) system - allowing for universal training and support for customers around the world. Thar's new Isolator SFC(TM) customers can be found on 3 continents only 6 months after launching the Beta systems. The systems purify up to 3 kgs/day of extracts. Thar Process intends to publish significant data on the isolation of minor cannabinoids and other non-hemp natural product extracts in the coming months.

Georgetown Hemp Subscribes to ‘Seed to Sale’ Model

ROCKVILLE, Md. -- The CBD industry is exploding and with that surge comes a host of consumer questions and concerns about the safety and efficacy of products. That's where Georgetown Hemp comes in. On November 17 from noon to 6 p.m., it's hosting a grand opening of its new store at 11607 Nebel Street. People are encouraged to visit to find out what makes its business different.

CNN recently reported that 66 percent of CBD products found on shelves are labeled inaccurately. For example, if you have two CBD products that each boast 400 mg, the potency and clean factor of each could be wildly different. Not all CBD products are created equal. The quality of the product has to do with the environment in which it was grown and how it was grown. All Georgetown Hemp products are organically grown and processed.

Georgetown Hemp has traveled around the world to meet with farmers and receives first-hand, factual information about the products it sells. It places a high value on research and education.

"We understand that finding the right CBD product to fit an individual's need can be overwhelming, that's why we created a business model that's both customer-centric and industry focused," Daniel Simmonds, owner, Georgetown Hemp says.

Georgetown Hemp staff is a group of self-proclaimed "compliance geeks."

"We're experts in the industry and our main priority is product security and safety. sales flow naturally," Simmonds says. "We offer the 'Georgetown Hemp Seal of Approval' to ensure trustworthiness in the stores to where we distribute."

The company has a strict protocol vetting manufacturers and ensuring quality is followed from seed to sale. All products are tracked from seed to store by batch numbers and random batch testing is performed. Quality is always a priority.

The grand opening will have a host of people on hand to field questions and share information. They'll include farmers, an organic chemist, testing lab, manufacturer, co-packer, doctors, acupuncturists and more.

The end analysis is that when people purchase CBD from Georgetown Hemp, they're not only getting an exceptional product, but also great reassurance.

About Georgetown Hemp

Georgetown Hemp is a science-based, hemp and CBD specialty retail store. For each product it sells, staff visits the farm, the labs and the processing centers where products are manufactured. EPIC Launches Cannabis Site Pollution Liability (CSPL) Insurance Program

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- Greyling Insurance Brokerage & Risk Consulting (Greyling), a division of EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants (EPIC), today announced the first nationwide Site Pollution Liability Insurance Program for the emerging cannabis industry.

Available in states where cannabis is legal for recreational and medical use, the new EPIC program is designed to provide coverage for a material gap in Commercial General Liability and Umbrella/Excess Liability policies for the cannabis industry, as these policies exclude losses resulting from pollution/pollutants on, at, under, or emanating from an insured location.

The EPIC/Greyling Cannabis Site Pollution Liability (CSPL) insurance program protects growers, processors and retail dispensaries from claims alleging third party bodily injury and property damage liability claims as well as corrective action costs (investigation/cleanup costs) at or from an insured site. The program is competitively priced, with minimum premiums for annual policies as low as $4,000.

Cannabis growers are exposed to pollution liability claims resulting from fertilizers and other chemicals used in the growing process (indoors or outdoors). Cannabis processors commonly use chemicals like ethanol to produce oils and concentrates and to extract CBD from the product and face exposure from these operations, as well.

Retail dispensaries face pollution exposure from building heating/cooling systems, building maintenance and other operations, and are increasingly required to provide evidence of pollution liability coverage to landlords. The EPIC/Greyling CSPL program is designed to provide valuable protection to all of these operations.

Key features of the program include:
* Automatic Additional Insured where required by written contract (e.g. lease of premises)
* Automatic Waiver of Subrogation
* Corrective Action Costs include those recommended by an Environmental Professional
* Coverage included for civil fines, penalties or assessments arising out of a Pollution Condition where allowable by law
* Natural Resource Damages included in definition of Property Damage
* Mitigation (emergency) Expense coverage for costs incurred within 7 days of a Pollution Incident
* Terrorism coverage automatically included
* Defense Expenses for third party bodily injury/ property damage liability claims and for corrective action costs
* Illicit abandonment included in definition of Pollution Incident
* Manuscript Cannabis endorsement with broad definition of cannabis products
* Low deductibles (starting at $5,000 each pollution incident)
* Fast quote turnaround
* Simple binding/policy issuance process
* Open to retail and wholesale agents and brokers.

For more information or to obtain a quote from the EPIC/Greyling Cannabis Site Pollution Liability program, please email or contact Alan Bressler, SVP and Environmental Practice Leader at or 770.552.4225
