HARTFORD, CT – May 10 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Britney Spears’s pregnancy confirmation comes this week when filmmaker A. D. Calvo and controversial sculptor Daniel Edwards begin development on a short film about the making of Edwards’s next sculpture of Ms. Spears giving birth. Calvo and Edwards are scheduled to talk briefly about their project following the screening of Calvo’s quirky short documentary, THE SEVERAL SEVERED HEADS OF DANIEL EDWARDS. The film, selected by the New Haven Underground Film Festival, features a behind-the-scenes look at Edwards’s Ted Williams Death Mask and will be shown this Saturday at the Wadsworth Atheneum.

The unconventional documentary revealing latent macabre memories from Edwards’s childhood was produced and directed by Calvo, a former software developer who recently testified on behalf of the Connecticut Film Commission at a public hearing with actors Danny Aiello, Ron Perlman and Carol Alt, in support of a tax bill assisting digital film production. Calvo, whose NHUFF selection has received favorable reviews from Triggerstreet.com and over 12,500 views on Youtube.com., says “Venues for alternative content offered by festivals like The New Haven Underground Film Festival provide an important democratization of the film industry.”

Calvo, a Sacred Heart University graduate and Wallingford resident met Moosup resident Daniel Edwards last year, while Edwards was teaching at The Lyme Academy College of Fine Art, to discuss the proposition of making a documentary. The result is a behind the scenes look at the making of the controversial ‘death mask’ of baseball legend Ted Williams’s cryogenically preserved head. The film also explores Edwards’s gruesome influences and pop-culture sensibilities that led to his creation of the Britney Spears statue.

Viewing of THE SEVERAL SEVERED HEADS OF DANIEL EDWARDS will be 4:30 pm, May 13th at Hartford’s Wadsworth Atheneum, followed by a brief question and answer forum with the filmmaker and artist.

The New Haven Underground Film Festival (www.nhuff.com) was founded in 2004 with a goal to celebrate both value and artistic integrity, without commercial pressure or fear of censorship.
