STUDIO CITY, Calif. – Sept. 7 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — John Frank Rosenblum has exited Lighthouse Productions after fifteen years as a Producer to become a partner at Epic Level Entertainment. While at Lighthouse, Rosenblum produced the series Trailer Park for the Sci-Fi Channel. He also produced several films, pilots and shorts for Matt Stone and Trey Parker in addition to writing and producing documentaries for The Learning Channel and The Discovery Channel. Previously he had written and appeared in such television shows as Doctor Who, Red Dwarf and Star Trek: The Next Generation. At Epic Level, Rosenblum will focus on production of features Dragonlance and The Gamers with partner Cindi Rice.
Said Rosenblum, “Working at Lighthouse has been an amazingly rewarding adventure. I learned a lot about Hollywood during my time there. At Epic Level I am looking forward to applying that knowledge by making genre entertainment for all distribution platforms. Not only do we have two films already in production but shortly we will be making announcements concerning new comic books, a television series, a mobisode series, and additional feature films.”
Epic Level Entertainment specializes in speculative fiction concentrating on Fantasy and Science-Fiction according to Rice. She adds that “Fantasy is more than just elves and we are looking to tell all sorts of tales in a variety of ways. Our mandate is to create superior underlying material – everything comes from the story. We enjoy working with writers from the first word. We even have them on the set! The old adage is true: if it is not on the page it is not on the screen – no matter how small that screen is.”
Rosenblum believes that the fantasy genre is headed into a renaissance period. He says that, “since The Lord of The Rings financiers have been reluctant to fund fantasy projects out of fear of unfavorable comparisons at certain budget ranges. Technology is finally reaching the point where we can take the wealth of quality fantasy material and present it in a realistic environment at a reasonable cost and I am really excited about being at the forefront of this progression with Epic Level Entertainment.”
John Frank Rosenblum has been a producer/writer/actor for over twenty-five years. He is an internationally recognized expert on motion picture trailers. He is represented by Tom Marquardt at ICM and Randy Paul at Greenberg Traurig. He is a member of the Producer’s Guild of America, The Screen Actor’s Guild and The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s School of Cinema-Television. His web page is located at www.jfr.com.
