The People History (www.ThePeopleHistory.com) was created to preserve the thoughts, memories and social history of the ordinary man and woman, similar to that of a celebrity autobiography or biography.
“I founded the site out of necessity,” Steve Pearson, said. “One day I was searching for information about Warren Buffet and all I could find pertained to making money; there was no information about his social life or the era he grew up in. I decided that a site that would cater to real people based on real events would be interesting and useful.”
While the People History does not claim to be an “historical expert,” it does plan to leave behind a social history created from real people’s lives. Pearson spent approximately eight months researching historical timelines and events and people add personal information to the database everyday.
Visitors to the site are encouraged to add memories (thepeoplehistory.com/VisitorsMemories.html) and this can be done anonymously; entries are reviewed to ensure that no material is offensive and then posted within 48 hours.
People who feel that they have a story to tell, or wish to preserve a memory have the perfect opportunity to do so on The People History. In addition, people who want to read about events and experiences from real people’s Lives can delve into the memories and lives of others and experience a sense of nostalgia through their stories.
Information dates back to the 1930s from present. It addresses money and inflation, war, politics, popular culture, technology and invention, real estate and much more.
In 1960, the average cost of a house was $12,600.00 and gas was .25 per gallon; in 2001, that same house cost $136,150.00 and gas was $1.46.
