Ambrosia Juice Co., a purveyor of fresh fruit and vegetable juices and smoothies, has opened a retail location in Pleasant Prairie, Wis. The 1,200-square-foot store at 9901 77th Street, near the new Target on Highway 50 at the Shoppes at Prairie Ridge, is a healthful destination serving flavorful fresh-pressed fruit and vegetable juices; fresh-squeezed orange juice; and smoothies made from whole fruits, juice and ice with a variety of healthful supplemental healthful add-ins available.

Ambrosia Juice Co. features fresh brewed coffee and espresso from Alterra Coffee Roasters, a Milwaukee-based coffee company. Other menu items include teas, hot chocolate, steel cut oatmeal, home-made granola; and seasonal items such as hot apple cider and fresh-fruit popsicles. The store will eventually expand its menu to include paninis and a variety of other healthful snacks and drinks, including many vegetarian and vegan friendly items.

Those in the Kenosha area may be familiar with Ambrosia Juice Co. as it’s been a regular at the weekly Kenosha HarborMarket for a couple of years. According to Casey Jaronik, Ambrosia Juice Co. owner, “Each week we’ve been well-received by the people of Kenosha and we witnessed first-hand their interest in fresh, all-natural drinks that taste great.”

Jaronik believes her fresh-pressed fruit and vegetable juices, smoothies and other healthful fare will appeal to the growing group of health-conscious customers who have become more aware of what they drink and eat. This profile transcends gender and age, and is more about anyone who is interested in natural foods and beverages and eating in a conscious way. Not surprisingly, Jaronik has received strong interest from two groups in particular – pregnant women and families.

“Naturally, many pregnant women are very concerned about the types of things they’re eating and drinking and once you cut out caffeine and unnatural additives, there aren’t a lot of options available. And, parents are obviously concerned with giving their kids natural, nutritious products that taste good. Kids see a smoothie as a real treat and parents know that with our product, they’re actually getting something that’s healthful as well,” added Jaronik.

“We believe simple, fresh ingredients make a difference to customers and make a better tasting juice or smoothie. We’re really proud that we don’t use any pre-made mixes or powders in our products. Each smoothie is made fresh for the customer, and they love that they can see it being made and know exactly what’s going into it,” said Jaronik. “As more and more Americans are making the move from overly processed, artificial food to more natural whole foods, they need to re-train their palates to appreciate what a fresh peach or fresh strawberry tastes like versus what a food manufacturer tells us it should taste like. We’re helping customers rediscover the delicious flavor of real fresh fruit in our juices and smoothies,” Jaronik added.

Ambrosia Juice Co. can also help customers who are trying to incorporate more servings of fruits and vegetables into their diets. According to the Produce for Better Health Foundation’s Fruits and Vegetables – More Matters(R) program, which challenges Americans to eat more than the previously recommended five servings of fruits and vegetables each day, a serving of 100% fruit juice is equal to a serving of fruit.

“We’re all getting the idea that we need more fruits and vegetables in our diet and that even five a day isn’t enough. Ambrosia Juice Co. officially celebrated its Grand Opening on October 15. The company donated a portion of its opening day proceeds to the Therapeutic Recreation Program of the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex, which provides recreation and leisure services for youth and adults with disabilities. Also joining in the celebration were fitness experts from the RecPlex who provided fitness tips and exercise demonstrations.

For the store’s interior Jaronik received inspiration from successful national and international food and beverage chains, such as Pinkberry and Chipotle. “It’s a bit industrial chic with a high, exposed ceiling, and charcoal and black to offset the colors of fresh fruit, giving it a sophisticated yet casual and fun look and feel,” said Jaronik.
