GILROY, Calif., Dec. 16 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The hardships, struggles, hopes and triumphs of the men and women who served in World War I and World War II is wonderfully captured in "Letters From Heroes" (ISBN: 978-1-58909-570-0), by Edward T. Cook, a new book just published by Bookstand Publishing. This poignant collection of real letters from real servicemen allow the reader to see things through the eyes of these soldiers and understand their thoughts about war, training, sickness, the enemy and even their food.

Letters From Heroes book"The great wars are part of our history," says author Edward Cook. "The men and women who served in our armed forces during them should never be forgotten for the sacrifices they made. For, after all, they are all heroes."

This collection of letters is divided into four chapters: World War I letters; letters from soldiers preparing for World War II; letters from soldiers fighting against Germany in World War II; and, letters from soldiers fighting against Japan in World War II. For the most part the letters are from common soldiers writing their family and friends back home and they reflect everything from complaints about the food, anticipation of coming home, digressions on the destruction of war and the excitement of liberating POWs. There are over 50 photographs from the World War eras, many of them never before published. Many are of 104th and 107th Combat Engineers

"I would like to think that every soldier is a hero," says Cook. "A hero to his nation, a hero to his family, and a hero to himself. That person could be a barber, electrician, cook, clerk, or doctor. That person could be a private or a general. They are all heroes in somebody's eyes. Many were drafted, others volunteered, and some wanted to make the armed forces their career. It takes a combination of men and women to make up our armed forces. They all have a job to do, and they do it well. They give their time, their sweat, and even their blood for our great nation. They are away from their families for months or years. They see death, they see happiness, and they see themselves as doing a job: To protect our freedom and freedom for others. They willingly make that sacrifice for their country."

"I published this book," says Cook, "because I wanted to document these letters and get it out to the public. I didn't want these memories to be lost forever."

Edward T. Cook is the author of four other books, including "The History of the 104th Combat Engineers," "Guiding The Way From Middle Neebish," "Stars & Shields: Cop Stories," and "Murders Do Not Come by Accident." He is a member of the Military Writers Society of America. His website is:

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Dec. 8 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Author of the new book, "ASTROMASKS" (ISBN: 978-0-615-23386-4), Vijay Rishii Ph.D., announced today that his book reveals the secret code behind the ancient and controversial science of astrology. The author decodes astrology using a new concept of complementary pairs, and gives new meanings to the zodiac signs and their real connection to humans on earth, which has never been done before in the entire history of astrology.

The book supports the theory with physical evidence observed on individuals. Complementary pair theory also adds a new dimension to astrology, thus giving a whole new perspective of astrology, and takes it to an even higher level of being accepted as a true science. The theory also compares astrology with the theory of evolution, and thus speculates on a new meaning to life on earth, which occurs in a sequence of events dictated by the conscious evolution.

Digging even further into the core of astrology, the book discusses the predetermined birth of an individual from the moment of his/her conception in the womb. In the book, the author tries his best to give complete meaning to the age-old science of astrology, which "has been passed on to us incomplete in many ways for over six millennia, and adds to the possible lost features."

According to the author, "This book is just the beginning of a new era in the human history on this blue planet, with an interest of hastening the sunrise of harmony on earth, the ultimate peace."

Operation Blue Light: My Secret Life Among Psychic Spies - A Memoir by Philip Chabot with Laurie Anne Blanchard

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov. 10 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The ideal Christmas gift for those intrigued by governmental conspiracy, "OPERATION BLUE LIGHT: My Secret Life Among Psychic Spies" (Cherubim Publishing, September 2008, ISBN 978-0-9816024-0-0 $18.95 294 pages), is one of the most scintillating memoirs ever to be written. A true story of deception and subterfuge, it took Philip Chabot 40 years to tell us about his amazing experience, and it's now available through Amazon.com and www.philipchabot.com. Some book reviewers say it's hard to believe, but truth is often stranger than fiction. The fact is, Chabot was a vital player immersed in a fascinating American conspiracy.

Operation Blue LightThrough mental technologies, the U.S. Government and the CIA shamefully exploited of a select group of people who had psychic abilities in order to covertly spy on other countries. This book reveals the government's never-ending fascination and involvement with "mental" technologies and their collusion with psychiatric types to master control of the human mind for their own purposes and schemes.

"OPERATION BLUE LIGHT: My Secret Life Among Psychic Spies," is the story of the Pentagon's attempts to develop the perfect tool for espionage: psychic spies. These "spoken telepaths" were able to infiltrate any target, elude any form of security, and never risk a thing. For 40 years, the government selected civilian and military personnel for psychic ability, trained them, and put them to work, full-time, at taxpayers' expense, against real intelligence targets. Before now, the only information the public has received was about the work of remote viewers in the 1980's and 1990's. The actual beginning of the use of psychics has not been told until today.

Chabot's abilities were monitored then tested by U.S. Government agencies including the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, the National Security Council, the FBI, the National Security Agency, and maybe others. Most of this material is still officially classified or "conveniently missing." Chabot's story may explain why masses of CIA documents about the MKULTRA Mind Control project, including the material on Extra Sensory Perception, were destroyed in 1972 when Sid Gottleib and Richard Helms retired from the CIA.

In "OPERATION BLUE LIGHT: My Secret Life Among Psychic Spies," Chabot finally leaves us his legacy and divulges his terrifying experiences as a Psychic Spy in the turbulent 1960's. This gripping story follows the path that lead a teenager from a small town in Indiana to become the focus of Worldwide covert attention. Chabot confronted the agencies that were trying to manipulate him, and in doing so, neutralized the Cold War threat they posed to his future. An unusual and compelling memoir, Chabot shows that the use of psychics started much earlier than previously revealed.

Traditional methods of gathering intelligence include using satellites, intercepting communications and recruiting agents. However, today top secret documents have emerged revealing that the Ministry of Defense ran a covert project to recruit psychic spies during the Cold War in the hope of tracking down people and items of interest to the government and the military.

Even more intriguing, according to Chabot, "The use of psychic spies may still be happening today. Most recently, by the 1990s, it was revealed that the Pentagon continued to employ a highly classified team of 'psychic spies,' who use a form of remote viewing to aid in the gathering of intelligence in foreign countries."

The author's frightening first-hand experience proves that the life of a psychic isn't as glamorous as it may seem. Even though Chabot discovered his abilities at a young age, the problems of having "the gift" greatly outweighed its benefits.

According to book reviewer Bryan Carey of Houston, Texas, "His accurate predictions gave others the creeps and it led many to be fearful of him and label him as unstable. Ultimately, it landed the author in a mental hospital...."

Why is Chabot telling his story? "Mostly I felt I owed it to 'the casualties of the cold war's psychic battlefields,' for whom this book is dedicated. I have gotten to a place where I don't care how unbelievable people find it. Also it needs to be told because it is unlike any other -- the accuracy and details of my 'spoken telepathy' I had was not like any published experience. So my story needs to be put on the record."

"I also chose to publish it because it is just a good story, and I believe you will enjoy reading it even if you are not among 42% that believe in telepathy. I hope that my book will be of value to those living with psychic abilities, as well as to those who have friends or relatives who have not understood them," Chabot explains.

Written in the first person, this story is lively and highly interesting to read -- it actually resembles a spy film as it involves suspense, mystery and a lot of action. The dialogue is vivid and the characters well crafted. It is a gripping story that can be read in one sitting. It is both entertaining and enlightening as it regards the secret agents' field. It caters to all those who love action and spy stories and those who like stories about people with psychic abilities.

"We recommend this book because of its personal and gripping story of a young man coming of age with a powerful and impressive gift. Its magnitude overwhelms him." -- The Bookshelf Reviews.

"This book flows like a stream of consciousness. It is personal, interesting and fast paced." -- D. McCue "Bigskeeter," Amazon Reviews.

A R T I C L E:

MADISON, Wis., Oct. 22 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Building on the success of "Why Mommy is a Democrat" and "Why Daddy is a Democrat," author and political activist Jeremy Zilber announces the release of his third self-published children's book, "Mama Voted for Obama!" (ISBN: 978-0-9786688-2-2). With its Seuss-like use of repetition, rhythm, and rhyme, "Mama Voted for Obama" offers a whimsical celebration of Obama's historic presidential campaign while providing his supporters an entertaining way to let their kids know how they voted in 2008.

Mama Voted for ObamaIn 2005, while working as a professor of political science, Zilber wrote and self-published "Why Mommy is a Democrat." The book quickly became a favorite topic of bloggers and talk radio hosts - even Rush Limbaugh couldn't resist lampooning it on the air - and was later featured on CNN, MSNBC, and "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." Sold primarily through Zilber's own website, LittleDemocrats.net, "Why Mommy is a Democrat" is now one of the most successful self-published children's books of all time, with approximately 30,000 copies sold.

"To be honest," admits Zilber, "I wasn't sure I'd sell 100 copies. But the response has been phenomenal. A lot of Democrats are obviously eager to find new ways to talk to their kids about politics, and I think that's great."

In 2007, Zilber wrote a sequel for Daddy Democrats, which he also sells through his website. "I believe it's a good idea for all parents to get their kids interested in politics at an early age," explains the life-long Democrat, "but of course I think it's especially important for progressive parents to make sure their kids know where they stand on the big issues of the day. Hopefully, my books make it a little easier."

Despite obvious similarities, "Mama Voted for Obama!" represents a bit of a departure from the first two books. Zilber worked with a new illustrator for this project, Greg Bonnell, of Columbus, Ohio, whose playful images complement the book's lighter, cheerful, and less overtly political tone. "She didn't vote for a llama, Mama voted for Obama!" exclaims one page. "She didn't vote for an iguana or piranha, Mama voted for Obama!"

In addition to encouraging progressive parents to share their political beliefs with their kids, Zilber is supporting progressive causes by donating a percentage of his profits to Democratic candidates and left-leaning organizations. He also offers significant discounts to organizations wanting to use his books as fundraising items.

While some critics express concern that political children's books will further polarize an already polarized nation, Zilber disagrees. "My books aren't attacks on Republicans, they're a celebration of Democrats, progressivism, and Barack Obama. Telling your kids you voted for Obama or explaining why you support the Democratic Party won't cause them to hate anyone. Whether we like it or not, our kids are constantly bombarded with negative messages about politicians and political parties, and those messages need to be balanced with positive ones. Parents need to make sure their kids know what they're for, not just what they're against."

LANCASTER, Texas, Oct. 21 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- The Green Stone of Healing(R) epic fantasy website is among the finalists of the 2008 National Best Books Awards sponsored by USABookNews.com, HealingStone Books announced today. The award-winning website, greenstoneofhealing.com, is honored in the Best Website Design category. The site provides much-needed background for a complex saga packed with romance, intrigue, mysticism, and adventure.

Green Stone of HealingFirst-generation heroine Helen Andros is also now contributing to the series' blog, StoneScribe, www.healingstonebooks.com/stonescribe.

More than 500 winners and finalists were chosen in over 140 categories covering print and audio books. Awards were presented for titles published in 2008 and late 2007. Jeff Keen, president/CEO of USABookNews.com, says there were an unprecedented number of entries for the contest's fifth year.

The Green Stone of Healing(R) fictional epic explores what happens when politics and piety collide in an island nation called Azgard. Theocrats plot to impose total control over Azgard but end up destroying their country and much of the rest of the world. The books portray four generations of strong-willed heroines who use their mysterious gem to offer a healing, inclusive alternative to the hate-filled bigotry of religious tyrants.

"The website tries to convey a sense of doom and hope at the same time," says C.L. Talmadge, author of the series, which is published by HealingStone Books (www.healingstonebooks.com).

In addition to keeping readers posted about news and gossip from Azgard, Helen also plans to blog about political events in the author's world.

"Just like Democratic candidate Barack Obama, I am a mixed-race person," she points out. "He seems to be doing a much better job than I am in bridging two races and cultures. My author says she is voting for him, a good thing since she will hear about it in no uncertain terms from me if she does not."

Want a Better Website (www.wantabetterwebsite.com) is the development-design team for the website.

The first three books in the series - "The Vision" (ISBN: 978-0980053739), "Fallout" (ISBN: 978-0980053746), and "The Scorpions Strike" (ISBN: 978-0980053753) - are available as paperbacks at any online bookstore or by order through traditional outlets and as e-books.

'Twas the night before Halloween, and Grendel was in the house

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Oct. 17 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Halloween is just around the corner, and parents are looking for ways to make the season festive, without all the usual horrific images. "Beowulf" (recently released on audio CD) composer Sam Sorensen suggests another fun way to help get the family in the mood for Halloween. Audio books.

Beowulf audio CD"Liven up that drive to and from school with a good scary story. Or, create an evening your kids will remember by downloading from iTunes the musical tale of 'Beowulf,' and then at night, spend a little down time curling up by the fire with the kids and some hot apple cider for some good ol' spooky fun, while listening to the real story of Beowulf."

This dramatic original version in English, which has been passed down from generation to generation, over hundreds of years in other languages, can now be found laced with Sorensen's original musical score and effects.

In this entertaining adventure, Beowulf rescues King Hrothgar and the Danes from the ravages of monstrous horrors. The listener becomes acquainted with Beowulf's strength, heroism and noble heart. From over the gray Baltic, the wintry "whale-road," to the dark and dripping caves of the misty moor, British author Ian Serrallier reweaves the original tale brandishing all the energy and vividness of the original. Sorensen's powerful narration and inspired original score for a huge orchestra and choir enhance the story each step of the way.

Here is a wonderful means to visit a treasure from 1200 years ago. It is a work of art in itself, and a doorway for young and old to further experiences with the epic.

Happy Halloween!

Beowulf Reviews:

"It's clear Serralier has one of the most remarkable versions of the story Beowulf. Complex in nature, yet easy to understand, it engages the listener from start to finish. The audio quality on this recording is remarkable. Sorensen's large orchestral score composed of vivid instrumental color and memorable melodies, reminds one at times of Shostakovich or perhaps in places Bartok, or Prokofiev. His narration is world class, similar to that of a Spartan King, as he tells the ancient tale of a monster, in a way that comes from a place of a 'noble heart' rather than that of sheer horror. It is certainly a fun and masterful work that I'd highly recommend!" - Center Stage with Mark Gordon - KXLU (http://stageandscreen.com).

"To venture on the story of Beowulf in verse, whether for children or adults, is a deed with its own kind of heroism ... There must be a hundred ways of failing: Mr. Serralier has hit on one of the ways to succeed." - Times (London) Literary Supplement.

"Beowulf," by Sam Sorensen was most recently premiered by the Palos Verdes Symphony, July 27th, 2008 under the baton of Joseph Valenti, along with works by John Williams, Gershwin, and others.

Beowulf is available at: iTunes, Amazon.com, and CDBaby.com.
