The Patch Boys and Better Way Franchise Group are bringing the home services franchise to six Utah locations

OGDEN, Utah -- The Patch Boys(R) are excited to announce the expansion of their brand into the state of Utah, partnering with Better Way Franchise Group of Ogden, Utah. The New York based company has entered into an exclusive agreement for Better Way Franchise Group to sale franchise licenses in six Utah locations. This expansion would bring the exciting brand of The Patch Boys even further west and build upon their existing franchise network of 52 franchises across the country.

"Patch Boys is the only franchise concept that does what we do," says Leo Goldberger, CEO and founder of The Patch Boys. "When I met Ryan and the Better Way Franchise Group team I knew that they did franchising differently. They were the right choice to drive this expansion into the Utah area."

The Patch Boys is a full service drywall and plaster repair company, specializing in drywall holes, ceiling and plaster repair, and even new installation of drywall. Each Patch Boys franchise location is locally owned and operated. Accidents happen and drywall is often on the other end of those accidents. Many home repairs also require the removal of drywall and plaster to fix.

Often the plumbers or electricians doing these repairs don't have the time to fix these holes and damages. That is were The Patch Boys come in. Of new franchise locations, 83 percent have work the very first day they are open, and 100 percent by the third day. A low level of initial investment means quick return on investment for franchisees.

"We offer a unique and needed service to any area that we are in," Goldberger says. "When you join Patch Boys you are instantly needed in your area by roofers, plumbers, and electricians. You receive our corporate training. We come to you and do real world jobs and estimates. This how our franchisees have business from the very first day."

Better Way Franchise Group is located out of Ogden, Utah. With over a decade worth of franchising experience, across various brands, they are in prime position to handle the sale of each of The Patch Boys expansions in the Utah market.

"We couldn't be more excited to offer this amazing brand in the state of Utah," says Ryan Combe, Managing Partner at Better Way Franchise Group. "The Patch Boys concept is a turn-key business opportunity that will change your life and financial future. Utah is the perfect area for this concept."

Together, The Patch Boys and Better Way Franchise Group will change the way drywall and plaster repair is done in Utah.

"It's not often that you see a business opportunity that for under $50,000 and less than one months time you can be in business," Combe says.

Better Way Franchise Group is available for inquiries from individuals interested in the learning more about The Patch Boys franchise concept. They can be reached at 801-831-8521 or info@betterwayfranchise.com.

Partnership with Energy Optimizers, USA, expected to save Austintown Local Schools an estimated $153,000 annually

TIPP CITY, Ohio -- Austintown Local Schools expects to save more than $153,000 annually by transitioning to LED lighting in partnership with Energy Optimizers, USA, an energy management solutions firm.

Starting in April Energy Optimizers, USA will retrofit the interior and exterior lighting systems at all five of the district's buildings with LED systems. Lighting in the Austintown Falcons' football stadium and baseball field will also undergo an overhaul to the more energy-efficient lighting solution. The lighting comes with a 25-year material warranty.

"Our 2020 Strategic Plan calls for us ensure our students are achieving at or above grade-level expectations and to demonstrate fiscal responsibility to our community," said Superintendent Vincent Colaluca. "This project is going to help us accomplish both by delivering tremendous savings that we can direct to our classrooms."

The savings will be gained through both improved energy efficiency and lower maintenance costs. LED lighting uses an average of 60 percent less energy and lasts five times longer than the systems being replaced. The district will also make use of First Energy incentives, which is expected to net an additional $50,000 in energy rebates.

The benefits to the district's students and staff extend well beyond cost savings. LED lighting offers a quality of light that is very close to natural sunlight, which will result in better-lit and more comfortable learning environments. Also, LEDs do not have the hum and flicker associated with fluorescent lighting, making it an ideal lighting system for special needs classrooms.

The partnership also includes funding for a district-wide Energy Education & Awareness Program that will invite students, staff, and the community to develop, promote and implement numerous energy savings and sustainability programs throughout the district while being aligned with the state testing standards.

The district "Green Team" will include scholarships for participating students, an educational trip to The Ohio State University to build a district "Energy Bike," a 5KW solar array to supplement classroom lessons and numerous after-school activities to promote and educate the students, staff, and community about energy efficiency and sustainability.

"Austintown students and staff will benefit from a lighting program that doesn't just save the district money; they will also gain real-world insights into STEM-related concepts and career opportunities," said Greg Smith, president of Energy Optimizers, USA. "And that's exactly why we do what we do - we want to help our school partners save money, save the environment and prepare their students to do great things in the world."

About Energy Optimizers, USA:
Energy Optimizers, USA works with educational, governmental, commercial and industrial customers to implement energy savings opportunities to reduce operational costs, including lighting retrofits, renewable energy projects (wind and solar), HVAC retrofit projects, building automation retrofits and energy education programs. Elmwood Local Schools partners with Energy Optimizers, USA, on energy improvement project

TIPP CITY, Ohio -- Elmwood Local Schools expects to save $63,792 annually by partnering with Energy Optimizers, USA, to upgrade the district's lighting systems to energy-efficient LEDs. The interior lighting of the district's K-12 building will be retrofitted with LEDs, as will the interior and exterior lighting of the Community Center. The project will include a 10-year material warranty on the lighting systems.

The changeover will deliver immediate savings to the district. LED lighting uses an average of 60 percent less energy than the systems being replaced. It also lasts five times longer than traditional systems, which will reduce long-term operations and maintenance costs. Also, the lighting puts out less heat, which will help keep cooling bills in check during warmer months.

In return for improving its energy efficiency, the district is expected to receive more than $30,000 in incentives from the Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative.

"In our district, we strive to balance fiscal conservativism with a rich selection of academic and extracurricular opportunities for our students," said Superintendent Tony Borton. "This project will support both of those objectives while creating classroom environments that are more conducive for learning."

LED lighting's benefits extend well beyond energy conservation. LEDs do not have the hum and flicker associated with fluorescent lighting, making it an ideal lighting system for special needs classrooms. The quality of light is also close to natural sunlight, which will be welcomed students and members of the community center alike.

"Making the switch to state-of-the-art LED lighting systems is a commonsense strategy that provides school districts with more control over their budgets," noted Greg Smith, Energy Optimizers, USA president. "Directing more taxpayer dollars toward the classroom and Community Center amenities, rather than the local utility, works to the benefit of the district's students, staff, and community alike."

RMA’s Kevin Crowder on What Cities Need to Know Before They Seek a P3

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- Kevin Crowder was in great demand at the recent Florida Council for Public Private Partnership (P3) conference in Orlando. As the Economic Development Director for RMA - Redevelopment Management Associates (www.rma.us.com) he has successfully guided many cities through the complicated P3 process. During the conference, he shared how cities can avoid some of the biggest P3 pitfalls and emulate the most successful P3 projects.

"P3s can be a terrific tool to attract investment, but the first step is to determine if the P3 process is actually right for your city," explained Crowder. "Many city leaders feel if they want to attract a new hotel or create a new downtown, then they should automatically use a P3. But there are other viable options, and cities must weigh them all. Due diligence is critical before embarking on this route. Choosing a P3 process without fully understanding all the aspects is a common error with serious consequences."

RMA has guided many city and county clients through the evaluation process, and it is a formidable one. Successful P3s entail intense prior analysis of market potential, real estate feasibility studies, zoning evaluations and public input. However, this process does not end with the analysis; understanding the market potential from the private perspective is critical. If a P3 is embarked upon, Crowder stresses that city leaders must accept the fact they do not speak the same language as developers.

"The public and private sectors inherently do not understand each other," explained Crowder. "City leaders will need a 'translator.'"

As Crowder relays during his presentations, cities often hire specialists such as attorneys and financial advisors to guide them through various municipal issues, yet they often underestimate the need for a specialist to translate 'developer speak' and structure a successful negotiation.

"Developers bring their A-team to the negotiating table; cities must bring theirs," stressed Crowder.

During the conference, Crowder highlighted the recent successful P3 for the Town of Davie in Florida, which will transform the unstructured downtown into a Rodeo Western Village featuring entertainment excellence, world-class infrastructures, residences, a hotel and more.

"The Town of Davie is terrific role model for cities seeking a development partner," he explained. "City leaders completed the three key requirements for a successful P3: they did their due diligence, they brought their A-team to the table, and they brought forth a project that was compatible with the community's character."

Fort Recovery Local Schools expects to net a $17,000 utility rebate through energy savings project completed with Energy Optimizers, USA

TIPP CITY, Ohio -- Energy Optimizers, USA, has completed an aggressive energy savings project that is expected to save Fort Recovery Local Schools more than $30,000 a year in utility costs.

The district also anticipates receiving a Dayton Power& Light rebate of more than $17,000 because of the work.

Beginning in late winter, Energy Optimizers USA, retrofitted the district's interior lighting with LED systems, replaced the district's boilers and boiler controls with state-of-the-art energy efficient equipment, and made energy-saving enhancements to its kitchens and transportation garage. The energy savings attained will be equivalent to preserving 81 acres of trees or removing 53 cars from the road.

Most of the work was funded through the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission's House Bill 264 program, enabling the district to make these cost-cutting improvements at no expense to taxpayers while ensuring the guaranteed savings of the project are met or exceeded.

"The ability to qualify for such a substantial rebate is both a benefit to our community and a confirmation of our strategy to save taxpayer dollars by investing in energy-saving features," said Superintendent Justin Firks. "We couldn't have been more pleased with the quality of solutions and work provided by Energy Optimizers, USA."

Energy Optimizers, USA, has also provided funding to launch an Energy Education and Awareness Program in the district. The program will involve students, staff and the community in developing, promoting and implementing numerous energy savings and sustainability programs throughout the district.

"Projects like these, where the district, their students, and their local taxpayers win, are the reason we are here," said Greg Smith, president of Energy Optimizers, USA. "By investing in relatively simple improvements, Fort Recovery Local Schools has improved its classrooms and its bottom line."

Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Local Schools’ utility savings more than $6,000 above projections through a partnership with Energy Optimizers, USA

TIPP CITY, Ohio -- Two years after completing a comprehensive energy savings project with Energy Optimizers, USA, Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Local Schools has exceeded projected savings on its utility bills by more than $6,000 annually.

In 2016, the district executed a $1.8 million project to transition all lighting to LED systems and to make energy-saving upgrades to its boilers, chillers, HVAC temperature controls, and kitchen equipment. At the time, the district was the first in Ohio to upgrade all lighting systems to LED.

The district expected to save just over $134,000 a year on electrical and gas utilities, but actual savings have exceeded $140,00 annually. The savings are normalized or adjusted to account for outliers in weather conditions and utility rates.

"Fiscal conservation is significant in our district, which is why we partnered with Energy Optimizers, USA, and invested in cost-effective, energy-saving solutions throughout our district," said Jeff Lewis, Interim Superintendent. "Clearly those investments are paying off as substantial savings to our bottom line."

The savings will continue to add up for the district over the long term, according to Greg Smith, president of Energy Optimizers, USA.

"Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Local Schools will continue to see savings not just in its electric and gas usage, but also in long-term operations and maintenance costs simply because these systems last longer," said Smith. "This level of forward-thinking by the district's leadership is the reflection of a community that has made funding the education of its youth a priority."

Energy project with Energy Optimizers, USA, nets Monroe Local Schools more than $75,000 in cost savings

TIPP CITY, Ohio -- Just one year after completing a project to reduce its energy consumption, Monroe Local Schools has surpassed projections for cost savings, Energy Optimizers, USA found.

In 2016, the district engaged Energy Optimizers, USA, to replace all of its interior and exterior lighting with LED systems. The project also included the installation of HVAC controls and a high-efficiency boiler at the district's 2-12 building.

The district anticipated saving approximately $74,000 annually, but an analysis has found the savings exceeded $75,000 in the first year. Electrical consumption is down 18.6 percent and fuel usage is down 17.4 percent. The savings are normalized for weather.

The savings will continue to build annually by reducing both energy demand and maintenance costs. That's because LED lighting uses an average of 60 percent less energy and lasts five times longer than the systems that were replaced.

"These relatively simple and straightforward investments in energy efficiency have yielded a tremendous savings, which is critical as we balance the needs of our fast-growing student population with limited resources," said Monroe Local Schools Superintendent Phil Cagwin. "At the same time, we have improved our learning environments with higher-quality lighting, better air quality and more comfortable classroom temperatures."

The majority of the work was funded through the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission's House Bill 264 program, enabling the district to make these cost-cutting improvements at no expense to taxpayers while ensuring the guaranteed savings of the project are met or exceeded.

"This is a great story for Monroe Local Schools, its staff and students, and the community it serves," said Greg Smith, president of Energy Optimizers, USA. "By making fiscally sound investments in the future, the district has redirected dollars from the utility companies to its classrooms, where they will have the most impact."

Tipp Pride Begins Engagement with Bruns General Contracting on their $4.9M Stadium Project

TIPP CITY, Ohio -- During the latter portion of December, the Tipp City School Board and the Tipp Pride Association identified Bruns General Contracting as their choice for a general contractor for the new community stadium. The Tipp Pride Association initially estimated the stadium construction costs at $6.5M, however, after initial design choices and further examination using a process known as value engineering, Bruns now believes this funding number to be $4.9M.

"Value engineering is where our team reviews the design and materials required for the project. We, then identify if there are alternate, less expensive routes to take," shared Steve Bruns, President of Bruns General Contracting.

As Bruns General Contracting works through the value engineering process as well as the creation of a construction schedule, members of Tipp Pride continue the march to fundraise.

"Our fundraising efforts have raised over $1.5 million in donations to begin this project," says Scott George, Vice-President of Tipp Pride, "but we still need funds to construct the home and visitor stands as well as the press-box and buildings."

The new community stadium project will replace the grass field with artificial turf and install new lights, stands, concession areas, locker rooms, press box, and scoreboard.

Scott George had the following to say about Bruns involvement with the project.

"Tipp Pride Association received bids from four qualified teams for this work. The goal of our bid process was to contract with a highly qualified team providing value at the right price." George continued, "It was also great to see the work go to a local company."

Contractors bidding on the work were encouraged to share how they would be open to engaging with local contractors that desired to provide their in-kind or significantly discounted construction services for this stadium construction project.

Bruns General Contracting has laid out a construction schedule from March 1 through August 1, and Tipp Pride Association is planning a ground-breaking ceremony in a number of weeks as work on this project begins.

While the Tipp Pride Association has raised a significant amount of money to begin this construction project, additional funds will be necessary to complete construction.

Donations can be made by check to Tipp Pride Association at P.O. Box 261 Tipp City, OH 45371 or electronically by visiting https://tipppride.com/donate/.
