Outdoor Movement Series Launches in Mequon, Wisconsin Sept. 20

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- A pine forest in the heart of a nature preserve in Mequon, Wisconsin will be the site of the first of three conscious dance movement sessions, "The Wisdom of Your Body" series. It is offered by Carrie Branovan, the Milwaukee-born artist-educator who founded "Dance Your Prayers."

"We all remember the joy of dancing like no one is watching," said Branovan. "This 'Wisdom of Your Body' series inspires us to spread our wings and try something new!"

Designed to meet strict social distancing guidelines, the series allows each participant to enjoy abundant space to move. Each session features a 60-minute playlist of organic world beats curated by Branovan and followed by a cool-down, meditation period, and an art project.

Music is listened to using "silent disco technology." This enables participants to dance up to 100 feet from the central DJ table. The event is open to all cultural backgrounds, genders, ages (18+), races, and physical condition regardless of dance experience. If you can move, you can dance.

"Dancing in nature with the trees, wildlife, flowers and sky is a connection that helps us learn how to manage uncertainty of these extraordinary times," said Branovan.

"After conscious-dancing in innovative cities like London, Dublin and the Bay Area in California for more than a decade, I look forward to bringing this healthy practice to my birthplace, Milwaukee."

Branovan notes that "The Wisdom of Your Body" series helps participants learn new ways to enjoy freedom of movement while getting a break from the media and the digital world to be with nature. Participants stretch, dance, play, jump, bend and rest at their own pace.

"The Wisdom of the Body" series meets 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 20 and 27 and October 4, 2020. Exact location is provided after registration. The suggested donation is $5-$20 per session with proceeds going to Ozaukee Washington Land Trust.

Core Catalysts Announces Partnership to Launch New Service of Solving Cloud Sprawl

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Consulting firms Core Catalysts and Smart Factory have announced a new partnership. In response to a significant increase in demand by their Healthcare, Finance, Insurance, and Manufacturing clients, the two companies have teamed up to create a new line of service targeted at solving cloud sprawl. Cloud sprawl can lead to unnecessary spending, inefficient resource controls, and inadequate security and compliance within an organization, and many businesses become subject to cloud sprawl due to a lack of visibility and management of their cloud services.

Numerous companies today are shifting their focus to the cloud and using platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. These platforms often add unexpected complexity to already overworked technology departments.

"Our clients have seen an alarming increase in computer storage costs and security risks, and they often times require more specialized people to manage configurations and approvals," said Jim Wadella, Managing Member of Core Catalysts.

Cloud platforms often offer "quick fixes" that fail to address underlying issues, and the result is more spend for software enhancements and a growing lack of visibility over time. This makes it difficult for an organization to control cloud costs, resources, and security and compliance, which all contribute directly to the success and direction of a company.

"This new offering is in direct response to an issue we've seen across all of our clients," said Doug Richards, CEO of Smart Factory. "The add-to-cart functionality of the AWS and Azure consoles makes it too easy for IT staff to subscribe to products that start off at pennies but can quickly spiral into thousands of dollars a month."

With Core Catalysts and Smart Factory's new partnership, they commit to solving companies' cloud sprawl. Whether it is a one-time diagnostic or ongoing cloud management, their services deliver easy-to-understand, proven, diagnostic data and processes to reestablish control. Their user-friendly platform makes onboarding easy to quickly gain relevant insights for effective decision-making and continuous improvement to cloud management. As a result, organizations can expect full visibility, immediate financial impacts, and leading practices for security and compliance.

Thousands of Scholars Driving Innovation to be Recognized During 11th National Postdoc Appreciation Week

ROCKVILLE, Md. -- The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) announced the 11th annual National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) will take place September 21 - 25, 2020. NPAW is the nation's largest celebration of postdoctoral scholars who serve at more than 300 institutions, acknowledging the significant contributions these "postdocs" make to U.S. research and discovery. This year, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the first virtual NPAW will allow universities to open events to postdocs from other institutions across the country.

"NPAW is a well-earned celebration of the inspiration and perspiration of the tens of thousands of postdocs working to advance early-stage research across thousands of topical areas from finding a vaccine for COVID-19 to reimagining more diverse, equitable and inclusive learning environments," said Tom Kimbis, NPA executive director and CEO. "Postdocs help drive American leadership and competitiveness across all aspects of our lives."

Postdocs are individuals holding doctoral degrees engaged in a temporary period of mentored research or scholarly training to gain needed skills to excel in their careers. These scholars conduct a large share of critical, cutting-edge research across all disciplines at universities, research institutions and industry members across the U.S.

NPAW boosts awareness of the critical work of the estimated 80,000 postdocs in the United States. In 2019, 556 events were held by 121 organizations, spanning 35 states and 98 cities. In recent years, NPAW expanded to Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany. Popular events during NPAW include professional and career development workshops, networking activities, and social events celebrating the immense contribution of postdocs to our nation's thought leadership.

This year's celebration includes a keynote featuring John Beacom, Ph.D., Henry L. Cox professor of physics and astronomy at the Ohio State University, and Christine Pfund, Ph.D., senior scientist with the Wisconsin Center for Education Research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, discussing best practices for mentorship, as well as national webinars hosted by key NPA partners -- a National Research Mentoring Network event focused on diversity in mentoring and a Postdoc Academy opportunity to hone leadership skills.

During NPAW, the NPA is also debuting NPA Communities, an online member engagement platform designed to share best practices, encourage communal solutions to common problems facing the greater postdoc community, and assist scholars in advancing their careers. All NPA member institutions are welcome to join the new network. A calendar of NPAW events can be found at http://www.nationalpostdoc.org/2020NPAW. NPAW is made possible by Distinguished Sponsor, Gallagher Insurance, and NPAW 2020 Lead Sponsor, Proteintech.

The week-long celebration sponsored by the NPA grew out of National Postdoc Appreciation Day in 2009 followed by formal recognition of NPAW by the U.S. House of Representatives on September 24, 2010.

About National Postdoctoral Association:

The NPA is a charitable and educational non-profit association headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, that seeks to improve the postdoctoral experience by supporting a culture of enhanced professional growth. At the individual, organizational, and national levels, the NPA facilitates connections, raises awareness, and collaborates with stakeholders in the postdoctoral community. Membership in the NPA is open to all organizations and individuals interested in advancing the interests of postdocs in the U.S.

Affiliate membership in the NPA for most postdocs is free and available at https://www.nationalpostdoc.org/.

DISA Awards By Light Team $198.9M Cloud-Based Internet Isolation Production OTA

MCLEAN, Va. -- By Light Professional IT Services LLC has been awarded a $198.9M, 5-year production Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) for the Cloud-Based Internet Isolation (CBII) Program. By Light as the prime contractor for this OTA, with teammate Menlo Security, Inc., are together delivering this next-generation Isolation Platform to protect Department of Defense (DoD) networks worldwide.

Beginning in March 2019, By Light and Menlo worked closely with the DISA CBII Program Management Office (PMO) to design and implement the CBII prototype capability which eliminates most web-based threats such as drive-by-downloads. This technology removes the browsing process from the desktop and moves it to the cloud, effectively creating an "air gap" between the internet and enterprise networks. The successful implementation of this effort will directly enhance military and civilian personnel's ability to defend the DoD Information Network (DODIN).

According to Bob Donahue, By Light CEO, "This win culminates more than 18 months of working closely with Menlo, DISA, and its Mission Partners to shape the commercial application of Menlo's Global Cloud Secure Web Gateway (SWG) to improve DoD's information security posture for those entities conducting business across the Internet. Our CBII solution improves the security posture of the network, will scale to meet DoD needs, is easy to deploy and manage, and optimizes and reduces bandwidth - thereby extending the life of the network."

"This isolation technology allows enterprises to separate their network from the public web while providing users seamless access to the internet with a native browser experience," says Joe Boyd, By Light VP and CBII Program Manager. "Within the cloud native architecture, all components scale horizontally. You couple this with global availability, anytime/anywhere access, always-on cloud with failover between regions, instant on-boarding of users, 24x7x365 operations support, and what you get is an enterprise-class cybersecurity capability virtually eliminating internet browsing threats traversing the Internet Access Points (IAPs) while also optimizing and reducing bandwidth utilization."

"We're truly humbled to partner with By Light on this groundbreaking program with DISA," said Poornima DeBolle, Chief Product Officer, Menlo Security. "Our partnership with the By Light team and the CBII Program Management Office (PMO) is a true testament to the value of the Menlo Security 'Isolation Core' architecture to deliver on their security and scalability needs to help defend the users of the DoD Information Network (DODIN)."

From Murderers to Ministers

TRENTON, N.J. -- Ministers II Society is a Community Activist organization and Music group, that was formed by inmates in a maximum security prison. Their Name creates a certain culture lure, as does their unified goal of transforming themselves from "Murderers to Ministers."

Its founding members are all serving time for unrelated, violent offenses. James Comer. "King James," Shakeil Price "HYMN," Tyrell Jackson "Tye Jack" are not just glued to a bond that focuses on uplifting the youth around the nation, but they are maintaining this bond as wards of the notorious New Jersey State Prison.

When asked about the venture, Tye Jack stated, "We felt, as the evidence shows, that parents of black and brown children have been crippled by unemployment at a disproportionate rate during this current pandemic; actually, even before Covid-19 struck." He focused on the rapid approach of the new school year, and the CDC's uncertain guidelines about when and how schools should reopen for the kids.

Ministers II Society, in partnership with Sha Bandzz Ent., was able to assist several dozen families in Perth Amboy, Edison & Newark, New Jersey, by donating packages of back-to-school supplies. The packages contain anything from, Backpacks; Refurbished laptops; note pads; pencils; hand sanitizers; alcohol pads; and of course, face masks.

Ministers II Society confounder HYMN is serving a life sentence for his role in a 2008 m. We reached out to Sha Bandzz for comment about his connection to the convicted felon. We also asked him about the overwhelming importance to give back to the youth of his community.

Sha Bandzz stated, "'HYMN' is on the inside, and he's gonna be until the creator or the right people say otherwise. But, even from behind the wall, he's showing people that the 'street life' ain't what it's cracked up to be. The effort that the Ministers II Society is putting forth is as noble as it gets. HYMN, specifically, has been inspiring me for as long as I can remember. Look around, look at what I've accomplished... all of it is because of what he's given back to me. People know him as Shakeil or SHAK' 'HYMN,' but I just know him as dad."

Sha Bandzz Further said, "Everybody gives something back to their communities in their own way, but what they're giving isn't always good. The Ministers II Society are not only showing me how to give back, but they're also showing the importance of why I should give back. And there is no better place to start than to make sure that all children, including the ones that look like me, have the tools they need to stay in school."

The three co-founders faced initial criticism when asked if they forum was just a means for them to possibly regain their freedom.

"Besides the wrongfully convicted, only a desperately dumb person comes to prison," stated cofounder James Comer, "and only a dumber person wants to stay in prison. Of course, we look at this as a means to better our 'incarceration situation.' However, we've accepted our former roles as criminals along with the punishment that came with it. But now it's time to accept our new roles as self-appointed ministers."

HYMN felt compelled to say, "If these bars and walls remain all there is to our lives, then so be it..at least we did something for young people that will help them avoid coming to places like New Jersey State Prison. Can you imagine if the bars and walls were removed?"

For full interviews with the Ministers II Society, visit: https://ministersiisociety.com -- his website serves as the hub where items in support of the activist/ Music group can be purchased. Portions of the proceeds are immediately directed towards their philanthropic work. The Group also accepts donations and is looking for sponsors to assists with their humanitarian endeavors.

To support the movement, hear the latest music or read and engage in their blog of hot topics, log on to https://ministersiisociety.com today.

"The energy we're putting out," Tye Jack says, "is the same energy we need from people in the free world. We changed our perception so the free world could change their perception of us..."

Fort Collins Mayor Wayne Troxell declares September 16, 2020 Holocaust Survivor ‘Joe Rubinstein Day’

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Author Nancy Sprowell Geise announces that on Sunday, September 14, 2020, Mayor Troxell presented Holocaust survivor with the honor in recognition of Joe's 100th birthday. Joe said, "I am so honored and grateful that I'm still alive to celebrate 100 years. I can't believe it. I love life and I love people."

Shortly before dawn on a frigid morning in Radom, Poland, German soldiers forced twenty-one-year-old Icek "Joe" Rubinsztejn onto a crowded, open-air truck. The next day, several around him were dead. From there, things got worse for young Joe-much worse.

Joe arrived at Auschwitz/Birkenau on April 30, 1942, and was imprisoned there for over two years before being taken to several other notorious camps, including Buchenwald, Ohrdruf, and Theresienstadt. Throughout his ordeal, surprising and remarkable events occurred to save his life.

Barefooted when he was seized, Joe would become one of New York's leading shoe designers for legendary companies Herbert Levine, Inc., Nina Shoe, and others. Beth Levine called Joe, "The Man with the Golden Hands." Joe designed some of the most expensive and sought-after shoes in the world. Shoes designed by Herbert Levine, Inc. were worn by first ladies and movie stars alike. While the Nazis took everything else, they were unable to take Joe's love of life and his love of people.

Joe, who is Jewish, met Irene, who is Catholic, in Germany after the war. They married in 1947 and later this month will celebrate 73 of marriage. They lived in New York for over 30 years before moving to California, and then to Colorado in 2007.

When Joe was taken from his family, he had no idea he would never again see anyone he knew or loved. His widowed mother and four siblings, including Joe's identical twin, were believed murdered at the Treblinka death camp along with over 33,000 others from the Radom Ghettos.

Despite having lost nearly everything a person can lose, Joe found a way to live a joy-filled life. He says, "No matter what, we have to love each other."

For over 60 years, Joe never told anyone his story because he did not believe anything good could come from doing so.

Now, nearly every week Joe receives letters from people all over the world who have read about him in the book, "Auschwitz #34207 - The Joe Rubinstein Story" (ISBN: 978-1939919120) by author Nancy Sprowell Geise.

People tell Joe that if he found a way to live joyfully after all the loss and trauma he experienced, then they know they can face their challenges. Joe's life is an inspiration for us all and an example of how to thrive, despite the most difficult of situations.

Fall Trends to Transition into Winter

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Jewelry lovers, the American Gem Society has a message for you: this is your season. This fall, some of the most stand-out fine jewelry you will see comes from members of the American Gem Society, a community of jewelry professionals dedicated to protecting the jewelry-buying public through a high standard of ethics and ongoing education.

According to Katherine Bodoh, CEO of the American Gem Society and AGS Laboratories, these five fine jewelry trends will provide the added detail you need this season to complete your ensemble. These pieces are also instant classics that can easily transition to winter, spring, and beyond. Be Zoom ready with any of these trends.

Medallions: this summer favorite is not slowing down. You can wear medallions alone or layer them or go bold and dazzle with medallion earrings and bracelets. Medallions stun in gold, but silver tones also make an unforgettable impression.

Restored Jewelry: do you need a jewelry makeover? Your local American Gem Society jeweler can work wonders on heirloom jewelry. Diamonds and gemstones can be removed from a ring or any piece of outdated or worn/well-loved jewelry and transferred to a modern piece of wearable art for your ears, neck, wrist, or fingers. If you can think it, they can most likely create it. A number of AGS designers also update older pieces by using recycled diamonds, other precious gemstones, charms, and much more to create contemporary designs.

Big Links, Long Chains: an extra-long chain is sophisticated and helps complete a look, especially one with higher necklines. Plus, let's face it: it also means no fiddling with a finicky clasp. This fall's styles feature big links for a bold statement, an homage to eighties jewelry. Slip it over your head, wear some diamond stud earrings, add a classic watch, and you are good to go. Or go short: choker-style chain necklaces in a high-polished metal provides an edgy yet glamorous look.

Pearls: the popularity of this organic gem endures. Staying with the big links trend, pair a chunky link with a drop pearl and you have a showstopper. Or, layer long strands of pearls with a couple of silver or gold link necklaces for a style that says there is nothing wrong with a wrist party!

Bright Colors. If you are a fan of seventies jewelry, the jewelry gods have smiled upon you. This season, think jewelry painted in enamel or treated in bright hues of red, blue, green, and yellow. Brighten up a dark outfit or enliven your mood on a rainy autumn day. If you plan to invest in one accessory this year...this is it!

Hoppon Announces Launch of Hyperlocal Small Business Platform

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Hoppon announces a newly launched hyperlocal app and online grocery and food marketplace for shopping online. With the era of COVID, many shoppers are having trouble getting groceries, for example. Using an online marketplace for the Chicagoland area, shoppers can discover new shops and order it for pickup or delivery. The online grocery platform for Chicago provides a necessary service for vendors to list their shops and attract new customers.

Hoppon is looking for new vendors to join the platform. Vendors can sign up for free and list their shop and products to provide pickup or delivery through December 31, 2020.

"Hoppon is committed to helping small businesses during these difficult times. We are also entrepreneurs and understand better than anyone that we must help each other through this period. And we are here to help," said CEO of Hoppon, Shekar Dhandapani.

Recent data released in a GeekWire article reported in March 2020 42 percent of consumers got their groceries online. The data compared to 22 percent in the same 2018 time period. Over 50 percent of those surveyed by GeekWire saw the current pandemic "permanently boosting their willingness to buy groceries online."

Shopping online and utilizing apps had become the most popular way to shop due to convenience. COVID-19 has sparked a trend in online shopping. Consumers who buy their shoes and cars online realize they don't have the time or want to take the time to hit the grocery store. Customers at a physical disadvantage, such as the elderly or handicapped, see the safety in grocery delivery.

Chicagoland grocery stores, restaurants, deli, and other specialty food owners intent on staying in line with the growing trend can list their shop with Hoppon for online shopping. Adding an eCommerce option to a local store is particularly critical to smaller businesses that hope to remain competitive. Shifting operations to accommodate consumer demand will be vital to survival in the market long after the coronavirus is in our rearview.

Hoppon connects businesses, buyers, and consumers with merchants and vendors. It allows for convenient shopping and interaction between vendors and customers. Shops can list their shop and inventory for online shopping. Our platform ensures safe transactions and allows vendors to provide pickup or delivery to the nearby area.

Online marketplaces like Hoppon are a connection that provides a high level of service to consumers and businesses. From finding products to paying for them to getting deliveries, everyone benefits from a smooth, responsible service.

Small or independent grocers, craft food purveyors, specialty food services, and other food merchants in Chicago shouldn't assume they can't compete with their larger competitors. Signing on with Hoppon, a company that focuses on smaller businesses, can make a deli, restaurant, or bakery as accessible as a major chain.

"We also make it easy for vendors to get started," said Dhandapani. "Hoppon connects consumers with small or independent grocers, specialty food stores, craft food purveyors, and other quality food merchants in the Chicago, Illinois area. Grocers can sign up with Hoppon and select easily upload their available inventory through a CSV file or send the information to us, and we add it. Delis, bakeries, and even specialty food markets are using the platform to make shopping more accessible."

Hoppon also offers a variety of features for business owners comparable to large chain stores like order notifications, and email updates. Keep yourself tech-savvy, let valued customers stay in touch, and new customers discover you through Chicagoland's eCommerce supermarket like Hoppon.

Hoppon's features also include vendors' ability to run promotions to customers. Promotions empower shop owners to reach new customers and keep existing ones. We've added this feature to help vendors drive traffic to their online shop and to their physical shop.

"Marketplaces like this ensure that independent businesses can be technologically up-to-date and quick to serve consumers as giants like Amazon, Whole Foods, and Walmart," said Dhandapani.

Hoppon's app is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Vendors can register for free to add their shop. Visit Hoppon to list a Chicago area shop here: https://us.shophoppon.com/register-shop/

About Hoppon

And we are here to help. In addition, with more & more consumers embracing mobile-based shopping, running your promotions and advertising on Hoppon can get you, customers, in a relatively short period of time, that too at a fraction of the cost.

Hoppon connects consumers with small or independent grocers, specialty food stores, craft food purveyors and other quality food merchants in the Chicago, Illinois area. Grocers can sign up with Hoppon and select easily add their available inventory through a CSV file or to send the information to us and we add it. Moduline Cabinets Reimagines How a Work Van Should Look with New Upfit Series

BROCKTON, Mass. -- Moduline Aluminum Cabinets launches the Upfit(TM) Series, a new storage system for vans, trailers, box trucks and other vehicles. The Upfit(TM) Series features bold colors and anodized brushed aluminum frames that give any vehicle a sleek, clean, professional appearance. But it's more than just good looks; Upfit(TM) Series is built for performance. Made with military-grade aluminum and manufactured with pride and precision in the USA, Upfit(TM) Series shelving is designed to handle the stress and strain of stop-and-go traffic.

The Upfit(TM) Series is made from with lightweight, military-grade aluminum. Aluminum is the absolute best material when it comes to vehicle storage because its lighter weight will save you on fuel and gross vehicle weight (GVW) while also being durable to handle the force from starting and stopping in traffic, especially when fully loaded with cargo.

"We're excited to launch the Upfit(TM) Series" said Paul Gill, owner of Moduline Cabinets. "We wanted to make a storage system to fit any van. It had to be flexible enough for all the different trades and industries that rely on cargo vans, but it also had to be easy to order online."

Our new Upfit(TM) Series webpage makes it easy to find a van upfit package for any van. Simply filter by your van's make, model and wheel base and we'll show you a variety of standard setups designed for different types of storage needs. We also offer individual shelves, Mix & Match(TM) modules and accessories so you can add on to an existing package or build your own from scratch.

The Upfit(TM) Series also features Moduline's patented QuikDraw(R) Latch System, which keeps drawers securely closed on the road, but opens with just one finger anywhere along the handle. Every Upfit(TM) Series door and drawer also comes standard with a security key lock to keep your tools or documents safe.

Mix & Match Modules(TM) and storage accessories make the Upfit(TM) Series configurable for different storage needs. Options include tethered door kits, up to (4) QuikDraw(R) drawers per shelf, aluminum drawer and shelf dividers, and removable organization bins, which fit anywhere in the system.
