Bre Maa Releases New EP that Promises Rap in its Purest Form

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Rap artist, Bre Maa, also known as "The Hood Celestial" or "T.H.C." just announced the release of her debut EP - "Brightly Unveiling Majesty" (B.U.M.). With four tracks, this album is poised to quickly brighten the rap scene.

A rapper, singer and poet, Bre has found light from the darkness and is ready to cast that shine through her music and soul. She's created an album that she shares is "rap in its purest form."

Having created a pure style all her own, Bre wants listeners to really understand the original elements of what hip-hop is all about - peace, love and having fun. Her lyrics are filled with insightful commentary that leave her audience wanting more.

"I'm an artistic messenger who creates music to heal and be healed. Most of my work is produced during my own healing processes, so all of my songs are beautiful breakthroughs. I cry or laugh, write it down, express how I'm feeling from the heart and pray the song inspires whoever is listening. The recording and technical aspects of the process come later," she says.

And, when it comes to that production part, Bre knows that she couldn't have done it without the help of producers Negus Korby, Solar B and Jewy Stupid.

"They've all helped to make my vision a reality," she says.

It's clear that Bre has found her voice and wants people to not just hear, but to listen.

About Bre Maa

Originally from Carson, California, Bre's raw and motherly presence brings a new perspective to rap. Her story started out a bit dark where she was surrounded by negative influences which only served to make her stronger and help her to find her current voice. She dropped her first single in September 2018 - B.U.M., a song that sheds light on the defamation of the black woman's image in this country and beyond with a tone of pain and triumph.

New Jersey Native Pop Singer-Songwriter EM Scores Top 20 Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart Single – ‘Hear Your Love’

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- In an era starved for young Pop artists with something significant to share, singer/songwriter Em (Emily Wachspress) delivers with her music and her message in her latest album, "DEAR LIFE," a ginger breeze of mood, truth, and soulful Pop. "This album represents a big chapter in my life of growth and empowerment," says Em.

Following the crossover Pop and Urban successes of her thoughtful "Say What You Mean" single is a transfixing second offering entitled "Hear Your Love" concerning two lovers - eternally united no matter whether they may be physically apart or even separated by lifetimes. As with all of Em's songs, it is accompanied by an epic video.

"My family is from Russia so I'm taking it back to the mid to late 1800s where my mother country began to boom in the arts - our 'romantic' era.'

"Hear Your Love" music video: https://youtu.be/DMwoH9Lq3Xs

The lead single of "DEAR LIFE" was the dynamic "Say What You Mean" which was promoted with a sensually and supernaturally mesmerizing video helmed by Parris Mayhew. Em is dressed in a provocative gown, her raven hair streaked in white, deep red lipstick setting off bewitching green eyes and mystical elements such as ghostly clones, tarot cards and raindrops that turn to tears.

"'Say What You Mean' is about wanting someone to love me with every fiber of their being...to be as sure of our love as I am," she adds.

The title track "DEAR LIFE" speaks to the universality of trusting in a higher power. "It was inspired by a near-death experience," Em confesses.

"Say What You Mean" music video: https://youtu.be/y9gHXJCV5Dc

Em collaborated on the entire "DEAR LIFE" project - a meditation on coming of age - with music producer Chris Young. Em's previous EP, "PATHWAY TO AETHERIA," was also produced by Chris Young, only at that time she was pursuing a musical direction she describes as "indie-world." Her capriciousness in the past was the twin result of her being so openly influenced by artists of varying genres and the old familiar scenario of her producers steering her toward styles that were already working for other young female singers.

Em absorbed the work of artists ranging from progressive females such as Carly Simon, Stevie Nicks, Alanis Morissette and P!nk to introspective male writers Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Don Henley, Michael Jackson, and Drake.

"Em is and old soul when it comes to her artistry, composing and performing. I have written with Academy Award nominees and platinum composers, yet Em's talent and professionalism is right there among the best. She is a future force to be reckoned with," says Michael B. Sutton, Former Motown Staff Writer | Producer - Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Cheryl Lynn and more.

"DEAR LIFE is an album-oriented project," Em concludes. "My mission is to help people heal and feel connected - closer to God and their truth."

Sampling innovator RJD2 and online music school Soundfly team up to release transformative new course on sampling and arranging

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Instrumental hip-hop producer RJD2 has launched his first online course, made in partnership with music education platform Soundfly. This in-depth course guides students through RJD2's unique approach to chopping and flipping records, and how he arranges samples into fully realized songs.

Known for his groundbreaking albums including "Deadringer" and "Since We Last Spoke," as well as for composing the theme song to AMC's "Mad Men," Ramble Jon Krohn has long been heralded as one of the pioneers of instrumental beat making, helping to bring the art of sampling to new genres and audiences.

In his course, "RJD2: From Samples to Songs," RJD2 opens up his creative process - sharing his perspectives on crate digging, listening, and finding samples, and walking students through the process of turning chops and loops into sequences, and arranging those parts into thoughtful, dynamic tracks. He demonstrates how he works with the AKAI MPC2000XL and how to achieve similar effects in the DAW. And he opens up the Pro Tools sessions of some of his most iconic tracks, including 'Smoke and Mirrors' and 'Let There Be Horns,' going into elaborate detail about how the songs came together.

"RJD2: From Samples to Songs" features over 35 videos, filmed in RJD2's home studio, as well as readings, downloadable tracks, creative prompts, and access to Soundfly's online Slack community where students get feedback on their work. It joins Soundfly's extensive subscription library of creative music courses for both amateur and professional-level musicians.

"I think one of the most common obstacles that artists fall prey to is being too delicate with their own music. I hope that one of the things I can do with this course is to provide the encouragement for students to think big, be bold, and be drastic when it comes to their recordings. I'd encourage students to find that boundary at which they might think something is 'acceptable' and blow right through it," said RJD2 about the inspiration behind the material. "By the end of the course, I hope you're excited to sit down and make music."

"Creating this course has changed the way I think about the building blocks of music," said Soundfly CEO Ian Temple. "I've shifted from focusing on notes and pitches to considering music to be chunks of manipulable sound. It's been a fascinating change of perspective and I'm excited for the music it inspires in our students."

Presenting 7 living composers, 6 soloists, and an opera about a transgender woman, the Lowell Chamber Orchestra announces its most exciting season yet

LOWELL, Mass. -- After successfully ending an entirely virtual second season, the Lowell Chamber Orchestra returns to live concerts with "A Season of Inclusion," its third and most ambitious season to date.

In following with its mission of promoting new music and educating about established works, the Lowell Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Orlando Cela, will be presenting six entirely free concerts showcasing, among other things, seven works by living composers, six soloists, a wide variety of genres, and many well-known works, encompassing over 300 years of musical development

In order to promote the creation of new classical music, the LCO has commissioned composer Dana Kaufman for a brand new work. Kaufman, known for her masterful ability to blur the lines between classical and pop cultures, is the ideal creator for a work that intersects the styles of Baroque styles and contemporary music.

The season opens with another world premiere: Micah Roberts' "Hypernovae," a fantastic overture inspired by the cosmos, which also marks the conclusion of the LCO's first ever call-for-scores. Roberts' score was selected from over 120 compositions, which came from 9 different countries. Other featured living composers include Anna Clyne, Arnold Friedman, Mark Berger, Karl Henning, and Lowell's own Aaron Rosenberg.

The highlight of the season also features the work of well-known living composer, Laura Kaminsky. As One - the most produced opera in North America in the last eight years - is a timely and soul-stirring chamber work about the challenges, fears, and joys of its transgender protagonist. With a poignant and witty libretto by Mark Campbell and Kimberly Reed and film by Ms. Reed, As One is an unforgettable experience. And the LCO production of the opera is a special event: with singers Tona Brown and Rahzé Cheatham, it marks the first time a gender-expansive cast has performed the work.

Brown and Chatham are also two of the few soloists featured this season. Well-known works by Mozart and Shostakovich - featuring flutist Wei Zhao and pianist Pei-Yeh Tsai, respectively - will interweave with compositions that feature surprising instruments: Joseph Brent highlights the mandolin in Anna Clyne's mystical concerto, and Aldo Abreu epitomizes the subtle éclatthe recorder.

Finally, the LCO also preserves and educates about the classical musical traditions, and for that purpose, well-known masterpieces such as Mozart's Symphony No. 41 "Jupiter," Prokofiev's Symphony No. 1 "Classical," and Vaughan Williams' "Fantasy on a Theme by Thomas Tallis" can be heard in different venues across Lowell in the upcoming season.

Please visit https://lowellchamberorchestra.org to find out more about the aforementioned events, and more.
