Johnny Manhattan’s is the First Restaurant in Washington County to Offer a Keto Friendly Menu

HUBERTUS, Wis. -- Johnny Manhattan's Steakhouse is announcing a keto diet friendly menu. The Milwaukee area supper club has been serving the greater Milwaukee area for more than twenty years, but still keeps up with dining trends and is one of the first in the area to create a menu that allows diners who are sticking to a very-low-carb, moderate-protein, and high-fat diet while out at a restaurant or supper club.

According to restaurant owner Nancy Manhattan, "Most Keto dieters understand the principles of what they can and cannot eat, but without a commitment from the restaurant, there are the hidden ingredients that find their way in. Added sauces or gravies can sneak in sources of carbohydrates from added sugars or flour that you were not intending to eat.

She added, "With the unveiling of the Keto menu at Johnny Manhattan's Keto diners can be assured that their choices will conform to their dietary restrictions."

Keto is becoming more mainstream and chefs at Johnny Manhattan's understand that customers need to modify their meals. Bartenders at the supper club also understand that the supper club experience often includes a cocktail. There are several options for the Keto diet at the bar as well.

New Book ‘School of Errors’ Exposes Unsustainable School Safety Industry Spending Spree

MADISON, Wis. -- "School of Errors - Rethinking School Safety in America" (ISBN: 978-1475837445), authored by David P. Perrodin, Ph.D., and published by Rowman & Littlefield, is being touted as "the most honest book ever written about the $3 billion school safety industrial complex."

Perrodin boldly addresses the ambiguity of school safety plans. What is a "good" school safety plan and what is a "good" school safety drill? He explains to readers that schools must attempt to interpret and apply these foggy expectations with little oversight and less accountability.

Perrodin warns that when the perceived value of unchecked spending is increased student safety, it's practically unthinkable to assign a price tag to peace of mind.

"Fortifications, though a common 'solution' to the problem, are just not working," Perrodin explains. "While parents and communities want to 'see' security, schools should focus more on safety research than on increased fortifications, which are often under-researched and easy to undermine."

The book showcases to readers how schools have allowed security vendors to become the experts. And, it's a cost that comes at a high price.

Perrodin pushes readers to consider rhetoric versus school safety reality, hoping that schools and communities will think past fortifications and hyper-realistic exercises to develop more holistic security programs. For example, the book suggests that increased funding for research on the Youth Code of Silence is needed. Why? Facts show that more than 75 percent of the time, at least one other person has prior knowledge that an attacker intends to bring harm to a school.

"School of Errors" also addresses how special needs students have been placed on the sidelines of safety. Perrodin provides a framework for all students to actively participate in keeping their schools safe.

James B. Sibley, Esq., special education attorney, Tollner Law Offices, says this book is, "A brave demonstration of speaking truth to power. 'School of Errors' rips the lid off the billion-dollar school safety industry. Using real-world examples of successful responses in desperate situations, Perrodin contrasts the expensive window dressings pitched to panicked parents, with the inexpensive and effective approaches proven to actually work. Read this book before you let your school waste another precious dollar on meaningless safety 'theater.'"

It's Perrodin's hope that all students will be safer if they are taught how to increase awareness of their environments (situational awareness) and are provided with better threat reporting systems.

Debut Wisconsin Author Uses Fiction Thrillers to Tell the Hard Truth

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- "Stolen" (ISBN: 978-1733900812) by Caroline Klug is released in print today. It's the first in a planned series of fiction thrillers centering on controversial topics like drugs, sex trafficking, adultery, suicide, and other all too common mainstream struggles. These thrillers are sure to engage readers from beginning to end, but readers looking more closely will discover underlying allegories designed to inspire and encourage people in their personal lives.

The literary landscape is filled with books telling stories of serial killers, destructive social behaviors, and dark endings. Caroline Klug, however, has brought the dark into the light by delivering the macabre and turning it into a message of inspiration and hope.

Caroline Klug says, "I love scary or suspenseful movies and books, but find it difficult to navigate that landscape without running into things that are overly gratuitous, or leave you feeling in a dark place."

She adds, "I also have a heart for real-world social issues and personal struggles people often shy away from being open about. I feel called to write thrillers that captivate and entertain my audience, but leave them with a meaningful and heart-changing message. My goal is to leave my readers better than my books find them."

"Stolen" chronicles the story of a Milwaukee-based teenage runaway abducted by a serial killer who holds her captive in a remote prison in the woods. Failed escapes, physical torture, and mental anguish mark her days in isolation.

Alternating chapters weave her story around Sarah, a woman riddled with questions about her own past, who suspects the man she lives with may not be what he seems.

These stories unfold and connect to bring to life the anguish of isolation and the choices that paved the way into their prisons. It also brings the gentle whisper of love and the audacious hope of freedom. "Stolen" is a thriller with a twist that will take the reader on a journey of pain and terror, as well as an unexpected journey of redemption.

Purchase the fiction thriller, "Stolen," now from Amazon, in Kindle edition and paperback, at: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QNRS7F5.

About the Author:

Poor People Choose to Be Poor, says ‘Professional Plaintiff’ and Children’s Book Author Cory Groshek

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Poor people are poor because they choose to be poor, says 'professional plaintiff' turned children's book author Cory Groshek, who is also the founder of personal growth and development brand Manifestation Machine.

It isn't that Groshek doesn't like poor people; he just doesn't want to be one of them. And he doesn't want your children to be one of them, either, which is why he published his debut, middle-grade fiction book, "Breaking Away: Book One of the Rabylon Series" (ISBN: 978-1946029003), in late 2016, as a means of teaching children and their parents about what he calls "the success-oriented mindset we all need to achieve financial freedom."

Groshek, who became infamous in June 2016, when the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ran what he calls "a defamatory hit-piece" on him entitled "'Professional plaintiff' uses credit law to threaten companies, win $230,000 in settlements," has, by his own admission, earned nearly three quarters of a million dollars to date - far more than has previously been reported-through private legal settlements with almost 50 American companies over what he calls their "willful violations of their job applicants' and employees' rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act" (known as the FCRA, for short). Accordingly, he believes that he is uniquely qualified to dispense advice to others with regards to their financial futures.

"I didn't earn all of this settlement money by accident. I earned it, despite me not being an attorney and having no legal background or negotiating experience to speak of, for one reason and one reason only: I know how to create my own reality," says Groshek. "And with God as my witness, I am going to teach everyone with ears to hear to do the same, because the last thing I want is to see our kids growing up to become what I was just a little over three years ago."

A little over three years ago, Groshek says he was "30, going on 31 years old," living paycheck to paycheck, stuck in a dead-end, customer service call center job, sleeping on his retired father's couch, and in over $10,000 of credit card debt.

But now, he is financially independent, the owner of his own business (Manifestation Machine), living in a paid-off house, and completely debt-free, thanks to what he calls "the four C's of success," his personal process for manifesting what he calls "a life worth dying for"-a process which is embodied in his children's book and which he hopes to soon "bring to the masses" via a soon-to-be-released series of "metaphysical self-help books" and seminars geared toward helping adults become successful.

"As much as it may pain the general population for me to say this, the truth is, poor people are poor because they choose to be poor, just like I'm financially independent because it's what I choose to be," Groshek says. "When most people wake up every day, they focus not on what they want, but on what they don't want, or, in other words, they make their decisions based on fear, rather than on faith, and it's for that reason that they attract more and more of what they don't want into their lives, as opposed to what they do want.

"But through my book and my brand, I can and I will change that, even if it means rubbing a lot of people 'the wrong way', because I'm here to tell people what they need to hear, not what they want to hear, which is the truth-even if it hurts."

"Breaking Away: Book One of the Rabylon Series," which follows two young bunnies, Remy and Rhea, as they attempt to escape their impoverished, North-Korea-like village of Rabylon for the promise of abundance and prosperity that lies just on the other side of a big, green hill, is available now as a Kindle e-book, Audible audio book, and in paperback.

Real Help for a Milwaukee Public School

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On March 28, 2017, the Treasurer of STEM-CAN Supporters (SCS) sent a $2,500 check to Fritz Blandon, Principal of Milwaukee Allen-Field Elementary School as a donation for the immediate purchase of Student Leadership Blazers and seven compound microscopes along with some minor supplies.

Principal Blandon had earlier described to SCS these prioritized needs and their estimated costs as being beyond his school budget. Since such beyond-school-budget supplies and projects are well within the mission of SCS, it was easy for SCS to be of prompt assistance. SCS is glad to give direct help to needy public schools for the direct benefit of their students; it is doubly pleased to get such thrilled reaction as received from Principal Blandon who was effusive in his letter of acceptance of the donation.

This original gift to Allen-Field Elementary represents exactly half of what SCS has budgeted for the school community. SCS is deeply convinced that it takes a community to produce the best possible Public School results; it takes a community to minimize absenteeism while maximizing school spirit and graduation rates of caring students.

Therefore, beyond these kinds of direct help to the school, SCS offers the matching amount of funding to help the school PTO or school community leaders to strengthen the local school community. Such school community funds will be used by the local volunteer leadership of parents, teachers, and other community leaders for enriching neighboring and deepening communication among the whole school community.

Other needy neighborhood public schools are invited to participate similarly in using similar funding by the STEM-CAN Supporters, a charitable educational corporation.

STEM-CAN Supporters initially budgets a get-acquainted $5,000 per applying needy neighborhood public school, with $2,500 dedicated to immediate classroom, project, program or school needs and a matching $2,500 for developing school community neighbor relationships.

These relationships are developed and supported primarily through "Our Community Hour" as described at https://stem-can.org/for-parents/.

Vegetarian Alcoholic to Release Georgia Lundeen’s First Book of Poetry, ‘Spare’

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Minnesota poet Georgia Lundeen, who made a name in verse through her popular blog Shrinks Aren't Cheap, is set to release her first physical collection of works, titled "Spare" (ISBN: 978-1-940129-69-3), on April 21, 2017, Vegetarian Alcoholic Press announced today.

"Spare" at first seems like a catalog of lucid dreams but soon reveals itself as a map to an ancient dimension still lingering among us. It is a place both mystifying and damning, where the earth itself speaks and the strangest creatures living there are people.

One cannot be sure whether the pieces within it are recollections or incantations.

"There are traces in the sky of what I mean," writes Lundeen. Those traces are "Spare."

Paperback copies are available for pre-order from Vegetarian Alcoholic Press. Digital versions of the book will be available in all major formats on the release date. Learn more at: http://www.vegetarianalcoholicpress.com/titles/spare.

A Real Life Robin Hood? ‘Professional Plaintiff’ Uses Settlement Money to Release Children’s Book

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Manifestation Machine, a global personal growth and development brand, today announced the release of "Breaking Away: Book One of the Rabylon Series" (ISBN: 978-1946029003), the debut, middle grade fiction novel from Cory Groshek, a man dubbed a "professional plaintiff" by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel who, in early 2015, filed three Class Action lawsuits over alleged violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including one against cable giant Time Warner Cable.

Groshek, also known as fitness and fasting guru Low Carb Cory on YouTube and rapper Cory Crush, made headlines on June 25th, 2016 when the Journal Sentinel reported that he had earned over $230,000 through private settlements with more than 20 companies he'd accused of violating the law. In reaction to that report, which Groshek calls "a one-sided hit piece, probably paid for by Time Warner Cable," many have labeled Groshek an "extortionist" and a "scumbag," despite the fact that he's never been charged with or convicted of extortion, while others have branded him a "hero," a "one man [Federal Trade Commission]," and a "Robin Hood" of sorts who has taken from the rich (the companies he's settled with) and given to the poor, in the form of his book which, coincidentally, happens to be about "escaping poverty and finding abundance."

"A lot of people want to make me out to be the bad guy," says Groshek, "but personally? I like to think of myself as more of an anti-hero-something like the Bruce Wayne of children's book authors."

When asked about some of his critics' claims that he has used his settlement money simply to "enrich" himself, Groshek stands firm behind what he calls his "consumer rights work," which he openly admits has funded his foray into the world of fiction.

"Sure, I could have used the money simply to 'enrich myself,' or 'taken the money and run,' as they say, but I didn't," he says. "Instead, I've used it to put out a children's book, because my goal is and always has been to make this world a better place, not just for me, but for everyone - especially our children. And I believe my book does that."

Groshek's book, which has already earned multiple 5 star reviews on Amazon.com, follows two young bunnies, Remy and Rhea, as they attempt to escape from their impoverished village, Rabylon, and its tyrannical, dictator-like Mayor, en route to a mythical carrot paradise and what Groshek calls "a life worth dying for." Along the way, they learn the value of dreaming big, taking risks, trusting their gut, and choosing faith over fear in everything they do - values that Groshek believes should be taught in school but, unfortunately, are not.

"Breaking Away: Book One of the Rabylon Series" is available now on Kindle and in paperback, with its audio book version scheduled for release later this month.

Groshek's lawsuits versus Time Warner Cable and Great Lakes Higher Education (cases 0:16-cv-03711 and 0:16-cv-03355, respectively) are currently on appeal with the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, with oral argument scheduled for 2/22/2017. His lawsuit versus Alliance Hospitality Management (case 3:15-cv-00065, Wisconsin Western District Court) is currently stayed and pending a decision on a Motion to Dismiss filed by Alliance.
