Detroit Moms Partner to Start Virtual Circle Time for Preschoolers Who Need Socialization

DETROIT, Mich. -- No Fear Café, a co-learning center located in the heart of Detroit, announced the launching of its new online community, "Ready to Learn Circles." Moms and business owners, Alicia McKay and Shanna Sansom, have partnered to launch "Ready to Learn Circles" which is a new virtual program that pairs qualified instructors with early learners ages 2-6, for live, remote, daily Circle Time sessions.

Virtual Circle Time offers the same structure, consistency, and social development found in traditional Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten settings.

Due to the isolating nature of COVID-19 precautions, there is a tremendous need for early childhood experiences that are well-prepared, diverse, engaging, fun, and socially interactive.

Local mom, Jenaie, took advantage of early enrollment and she expressed, "So excited to have found a pre-k circle time for [my son] so that he can engage with other children."

Upon enrollment, all students receive a FREE Engagement Box, which includes several fun thematic items for use during the Circle Time such as small instruments, books, and quick crafts. The first Circle Time will be held on January 4, 2021. In addition, with early enrollment, families will gain access to special virtual events, one-on-one targeted instruction, and homeschool coaching.

No Fear Café believes that "Ready to Learn Circles" is an innovative approach to Circle Time, designed to give participants an experience that most closely mimics face-to-face instruction through song, dance, crafts, imaginative play, and other enriching experiences in the Circle!

"I am proud of our commitment to this important work with early learners," said Alicia McKay, Owner of No Fear LLC, who is Executive Director of "Ready to Learn Circles."

Shanna, Managing Partner feels, "The social needs of early learners are easily overlooked and underserved in remote learning environments."

No Fear LLC's mission is to use its energetic Circle Leaders to demonstrate that learning should be dynamic, interactive, and inclusive. Enrolling students across the country in "Ready to Learn Circles" is one huge step towards that goal.

No Fear Cafe, Co-learning Center in Detroit, Helps Kids to Publish Books During the Pandemic

DETROIT, Mich. -- No Fear Cafe, today announced the launching of its child author program, "Becoming Published with No Fear." No Fear Cafe is a Co-learning Center located in the heart of Detroit, near the Boston Edison district. This program helps kids to create, edit, and publish their writings. No Fear Cafe believes that this type of extracurricular activity can lead to better performance in school, reduced stress and anxiety levels, and inspired entrepreneurs.

Their first child author, Carrington McKay, an 8-year-old student, published her first children's book, "The Girl Who Does Not Like Glasses" this month. In "The Girl Who Does Not Like Glasses," the main character, Chloe discovers that she needs glasses to help her to see in school. She realizes that glasses are not so bad after all once she goes on a journey to discover the perfect pair! This book encourages kids to try new things and be flexible.

Unlike large scale publishing companies, No Fear Cafe does not turn away students who are unpopular or books that do not fit the genre they are seeking. Large publishing companies use reader metrics that often exclude Black authors and certainly overlook younger authors that do not have a large social media following. No Fear Cafe is turning the tide and giving ALL students an opportunity to express themselves through writing and become a published author. Assisting students with publishing is like helping them to launch a small business, since students will be able to sell books and make money during the pandemic from their homes.

Owner of No Fear Cafe, Alicia McKay, says "No Fear Cafe envisions a world where urban communities are transformed and engaged in the continuous learning necessary to thrive in a rapidly advancing world, identifying and addressing critical issues related to the education of all people, and using technology to broaden and support learning opportunities." Developing authors in urban communities is one huge step towards that goal.
