PORTLAND, Maine - April 28 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Photojournalist Ashley Gilbertson of the Aurora photography agency has won the Robert Capa Gold Medal in the Overseas Press Club (OPC). Mr. Gilbertson won the OPC award for best photographic reporting from abroad requiring exceptional courage and enterprise for his work, "The Battle for Fallujah." This honor places him among a long list of revered conflict photographers.

Photo Caption: One of four men who surrendered saying they were students trying to escape the fighting in Fallujah. (c) 2005 Ashley Gilbertson /Aurora.

Comments from the judges: Gilbertson was the most consistent visual recorder of the Iraq conflict this year. Spending more continuous time there than almost any other photographer, his images rise above the rest. Each picture stands alone aesthetically, and collectively they portray the relentless tension and pressure American troops had to endure in Fallujah. He sought out the best embeds and used those opportunities to make a memorable record of the American troops in action.

Gilbertson has covered the Iraq conflict for more than three years, and has worked on assignment in Iraq for The New York Times newspaper for over a year.

The OPC sponsors 21 awards in all the areas of international journalism. Past winners lists of the OPC awards read like a "who's who" of 20th century American journalism. Such legends as Edward R. Murrow, James "Scotty" Reston, Drew Middleton, Morley Safer and Vietnam War photographer Horst Faas have been honored by the OPC.

Ashley Gilbertson was born in Australia and resides in New York City. He began his career at thirteen taking photographs of skateboarders and graffiti artists, embarking on a path that ultimately led to a special interest in conflict and displaced peoples. In 2001 he began working with Aurora, an international photography agency that archives and licenses his work and that of other premier photojournalists. His work has taken him throughout Asia, Afghanistan, the Balkans, and the Middle East. He has specialized during the past three years in Iraq. Gilbertson was recently included in the "30 under 30" photographers featured in PDN magazine, and was nominated for the World Press Master Class and an I.C.P. Infinity award.

Ashley Gilbertson is available for interviews.

DALLAS, TX and ALBERTA, Canada - April 27 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Autism Today announces a live, interactive telephone conference will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PST this Thursday, April 28th featuring David Kirby, author of "Evidence of Harm, A Medical Controversy" (ISBN: 0-312-32544-0). He will address the question: "Does mercury in vaccines cause autism and other disorders in children?"

"I sure wish I would've known about these immunization issues when my children were getting their vaccinations. I may have done them differently!" Karen L. Simmons, parent of 6 children, one with autism, author and founder of AutismToday.com

The largest portal for autism, AutismToday.com is hosting the first ever live interactive Telephone Conference with author and New York Times contributor, David Kirby. David's book, "Evidence of Harm, A Medical Controversy" explores the current debate over mercury in vaccines possibly causing neurological disorders like autism.

The conference will be 6:00 - 8:00 PST this Thursday, April 28th when David Kirby will take the participants through a very powerful online presentation while answering questions from his audience. He will discuss many factors about mercury in vaccinations including what's safe and what's not!

Some children with autism were never exposed to mercury, and most people that were exposed show no evidence of harm. But if mercury isn't responsible for the apparent autism epidemic then what is? This debate compelled the scientific community to consider an environmental component rather than looking purely for a genetic explanation. After all there is no such thing as a genetic epidemic!

Something in our modern world may be pushing a certain number of susceptible kids over the neurological limit. This is where organizations like Autism Today are needed so resources and the latest information are easily accessed.

Established in 1998 by mother of autistic child, Autism Today is an online information and resource center which currently receives 2 million hits a month, 55,000 unique monthly visitors and over 25,000 family and professional members. Other top world-class experts, authors and presenters, make this "go-to" place a leading source for the latest information available anywhere. Autism Today's goal is to be the leading resource provider for autism worldwide.

VALLEY CENTER, Calif. - Apr. 27 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Crisp new five "dolares" bills issued by the United States of Amexica are beginning to circulate in border states. The fake, but very realistic looking money, features the photo portraits of George W. Bush and Mexican President Vicente Fox. Michael Dalton Johnson who operates slick.com (www.slick.com), a political satire site, created the faux currency, designed to protest and parody America's porous borders.

This week slick.com mailed 50,000 sample bills throughout the Southwest. The bill features a "Declaration of the Citizens of the United States," which threatens politicians with populist muscle at the ballot box unless the border issue is resolved.

The mailing included the congressional delegations and governors of all border states as well as past buyers of their other satirical money which lampoons politicians on both sides of the ideological divide.

The new bill can be viewed online at, and additional information can be found at: www.slick.com.

Caption: Book Jacket for "Diagnosis Autism: Now What? 10 Steps to Improve Treatment Outcomes" by Dr. Lawrence P. Kaplan.

"There weren't any guidelines or a clear path to follow ten years ago when our son was diagnosed with autism, and the path of future evaluations seemed never-ending," said Dr. Kaplan, the book's author. "Our life became a lifelong course of hit-or-miss opportunities. Even visiting the so-called experts resulted in too many responses of 'there isn't anything I can do for you.' But there is something we as parents can do, although it can be a long and arduous journey. My book was written to make that journey a little easier, and walk parents through a practical step-by-step process that can improve their child's treatment outcomes."

"Diagnosis Autism: Now What? 10 Steps to Improve Treatment Outcomes" (ISBN: 0-9765356-6-1 $15.95), by Lawrence P. Kaplan, Ph.D., covers everything from monitoring and documenting a child's development to the process of decision-making with the entire treatment intervention team, choosing a primary physician, and negotiating a working partnership with the doctor. The book also explains the crucial importance of intensive early education and guides parents to the resources currently available.

"Diagnosis Autism: Now What?" has been endorsed by many esteemed members of the autism, medical and parent education communities. Dr. Bernard Rimland, Director of Autism Research Institute and Founder of the Autism Society of America says, "Dr. Kaplan has provided parents a very valuable, easy-to-use guidebook that will simplify their lives and help their children."

Barbara C. Unell, parent educator and best-selling author of 10 books says that "Parents and others who care for children with autism will find a wealth of information, solutions, hope, and encouragement in this skillfully crafted 10-step program." Jay Jacobson, MD, Chief of Medical Ethics, LDS Hospital and University of Utah School of Medicine says, "'Diagnosis Autism: Now What?' is extremely helpful, concise, and very practical not only for parents, but for the entire treatment intervention team."

Lawrence P. Kaplan, Ph.D., is a parent of a child with autism spectrum disorder and is the founder of Special Abilities, Inc. He holds a Ph.D. in Health Administration with an emphasis in Autism Spectrum Disorders. Kaplan's inaugural 10-Step approach was presented at the 2003 Autism Society of America National Conference. KNOXVILLE, TN - April 22 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- GOLDENPALACE.COM, the girl who sold the rights to change her name for life to Golden Palace Casino has another controversial auction on eBay! Formerly Terri of Knoxville, TN, Ms. GOLDENPALACE.COM is now auctioning an 1100 pound "Mystery Safe" with contents reportedly valued at $1 Million Dollars, making it the highest valued Mystery Auction to date!

Photo Caption: GOLDENPALACE.COM, the girl who sold the rights to change her name for life to Golden Palace Casino.

Photo Caption: "Mystery Safe" with contents reportedly valued at $1 Million Dollars.

With a current high bid of $50,100 less than 24 hours into the listing, the auction has already been featured on several websites included bizarrebids.com, weirdebay.com, and watchedauctions.com.

"I can't believe the stir the auction has already caused in such a short time," says GOLDENPALACE.COM who was interviewed live on the nationally syndicated radio program, "The Alan Kabel Show" and Denver's "Alice Morning Show" on Friday.

GOLDENPALACE.COM does give 3 tempting hints on some of the safe's contents including: a) the keys and deed to a brand-new 3 bedroom home near a golf-course; b) key to a 7-passenger vehicle that is model year 2001 or newer; c) and the promise of a similar item that reportedly sold on eBay for $1.3 Million Dollars!

The auction has received 4,000 hits and 58 bids its first day alone with over 400 watchers! It even managed to get contributions of other "mystery items" from private corporations (such as Lommoy.com) now added to its contents, further increasing the overall value of the Mystery Safe!

She adds, "The question is, will the famed Golden Palace Casino bid again? Guess we'll know on April 28th when the auction officially ends!"

The Mystery Safe EBAY ITEM# is: 5575137541.

Note to editors: this release has been issued by the girl named Goldenpalace.com, who sold the rights to change her name to that of the Golden Palace Casino. It has not been issued by the company of the same name.

Update April 27, 2005: Editor's Note from Ms. Goldenpalace.com

"Ebay ended the MYSTERY SAFE auction (early) because they claimed 'having GOLDENPALACE.COM on the title was circumventing eBay fees since it pointed to a website.' After faxing them my court order and persisting my way all the way to the office of the President ... EBAY fixed the situation yesterday and the MYSTERY SAFE is now back on eBay! The new item number is #576785786."

"A Pope for the Ages" trading cards are limited to just 25,000 sets," said Mark Currier, President of Paradigm Trading Cards. "We realize that this is an extremely limited quantity for a man that is admired by hundreds of millions of people around the world, but we are committed to keeping our production numbers low in order to ensure the long term value of this commemorative edition."

Each trading card set is individually numbered, and the 20th card in every set is an Official Certificate of Authenticity. Randomly inserted in the factory-sealed set boxes are 3 limited edition trading cards. This will be one of the most limited set of cards ever produced and each card will be individually hand numbered out of a run of only 4,000. The odds of getting one of these special limited edition cards in any given set are one in eight. As an added bonus, each set will also include a commemorative card of the new Pope Benedict XVI on his inauguration day.

"Pope John Paul II is without a doubt one of the most influential world leaders of the last century," said Currier. "Not content with just being a spiritual leader, John Paul II made it his responsibility to awaken the world to the dignity of human rights. Pope John Paul II will forever be remembered as a great man of God, and as a man of the people. He was indeed, a Pope for the ages."

The Paradigm Trading Card Company is committed to chronicling and honoring the lives of men and women who have a tremendous impact on the world we live in.
