TeamSnap Ranked No. 6 in Outside’s 2016 100 Best Places to Work

BOULDER, Colo. -- TeamSnap, whose online and mobile apps take sports organization and communication into the 21st century, today announced that Outside Magazine has named the company No. 6 on its 100 Best Places to Work 2016 list. Each year, Outside honors the Top 100 companies in America that raise the standards for work-life balance, company culture and employee benefits.

This is the second consecutive year TeamSnap has been recognized by Outside; in 2015, TeamSnap was ranked No. 16 on the prestigious list.

"We're honored to be recognized for the second year by Outside Magazine," said TeamSnap Co-Founder and CEO Dave DuPont. "This designation is a testament to the employees at TeamSnap. They are cooperative, supportive and understanding, and as a result, we see low turnover, joyful employees and an exemplary culture of teamwork."

Outside Magazine chose TeamSnap for this list because of the company's progressive values, like flexible work hours, a remote workforce, the ability to work anywhere in the world, the offer of unlimited vacation time and the mission of judging employees on goals met rather than hours put in.

"Our team truly demonstrates the ultimate in work-life balance. Some team members take extended vacations around the world, working while exploring. Others simply make time between meetings to go for a bike ride or run. Close to 10 percent of our employees work from RVs while exploring the country," said TeamSnap Co-Founder, Chief Creative Officer and Minister of Culture Andrew Berkowitz. "Our employees embody the Outside lifestyle, and our policies - or lack thereof - serve to further our hobbies, passions and outdoor pursuits."

TeamSnap also offers employee perks like a wellness allowance to encourage a healthy lifestyle and an education allowance employees use to fortify career skills. Twice a year TeamSnap brings every employee together from all over the country-and even Croatia-to solve problems, connect in person, build team skills and give ample high fives.

Former Los Angeles City College Basketball Coach Mike Miller, Named Head Coach of CBA Expansion Team

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Former Los Angeles City College (LACC) and Junior College coaching legend Mike Miller has been named head coach of the California Basketball Association's newest expansion team, the Los Angeles Skyline.

From 1992 to 2008 coach Mike Miller led LACC's basketball program into a national prominence. Coach Miller become the winningest coach in LACC history in every category, including: a) most wins; b) winning percentage; c) conference championships; d) final eight appearances; e)state championships; and f) division one transfers.

Miller's LACC teams have won over 80 percent of their games during his tenure, including FOUR STRAIGHT 30+ WIN SEASONS (1999-2000 to 2002-03). He is most proud of producing over 100 Division One Players, which is thought to rank first in the entire nation during the same period of time.

His teams were models of consistency, demonstrated by setting a new national record of fourteen straight conference championships. This amazing streak started in 1993-94 and continued until 2006-07, breaking UCLA's old record of 13 (nine of which were won under John Wooden). Due to coach Miller's remarkable success he quickly became known as one of the youngest and most successful college head coaches in the entire country.

From 1999-2000 to 2006-07 the LACC teams compiled an overall record of 241-38 over eight seasons with a winning percentage of .864, exceeding all NCAA Division I Programs during the same time period.

Before LACC, Coach Miller experienced great success as a high school coach at Ribet Academy and Cathedral High School. As the head coach at Ribet Academy (Los Angeles, CA), Miller led them to unprecedented success as they captured two consecutive CIF Championships and a Division V State Championship. At Cathedral HS (Los Angeles, CA) coach Miller was the youngest head coach in the state at the age of 21. He led the "Phantoms" to the best two-year record in the eighty-five year history of the school. This included two Santa Fe league titles and two CIF Final Four appearances. In his four years as a high school head coach, Miller attained the fifth highest winning percentage in California high school history.

Coach Miller has been honored as "Coach of the Year" eighteen times in his nineteen full seasons as a head coach at both the high school and college levels and has coached EIGHT different teams to 30 or more wins.

Coach Miller was the first coach in California basketball history to win a State Championship at both the high school (1990-91 Ribet Academy) and college levels (1996-97 & 2002-03 LACC). At the age of 44 coach Miller had produced almost 500 colligate wins, more than any other coach in the history of college basketball at that age.

Coach Miller has earned four college degrees and also serves as the commissioner of the CBA.

Michael Phelps and Little Boomer’s Instagram Inspires First Virtual Reality Monument

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Artist Daniel Edwards will unveil what he believes is the First Virtual Reality Monument, one that honors Michael Phelps's legacies as Olympian and father, featuring new son Boomer. Unveiling of The First Virtual Reality Monument is scheduled for November at Irv Art gallery in Indianapolis, announces Cory Allen Contemporary Art.

Through specialized headgear, viewers can interact with the larger-than-life Olympian. The First Virtual Reality Monument features Michael Phelps, clad in speedos and USA-emboldened-swim cap, standing steadfastly akimbo with feet planted shoulder-width on an Olympic-style podium. His chin is up with a determined gaze reminiscent of recent Phelps memes. His son Boomer, supported by a child harness across Dad's chest in place of a gold medal, holds open arms as if sweetly welcoming his auspicious future.

"I intended to monumentalize Michael Phelps's athletic dominance and prevalence over inner-demons," Edwards says. "Contrasting Ryan Lochte's unfortunate actions in Rio, I find it especially important to commemorate Phelps's growth and maturity."

Boomer Phelps, the cute three-month-old 'mascot' of the Rio games, was present as his father won six medals. "I don't recall the emergence of such an adorable breakout star as baby Boomer at the Olympics before," added Edwards. "All of the pics on Boomer's Instagram page provided plenty of inspiration for his portrait."

"Ryan Lochte's misbehavior undermines the spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play of the Olympics, placing more necessity to remember Phelps's Olympic-sized strides," said the artist's spokesman Cory Allen. "But after 23 gold medals in five Olympic Games, Phelps's greatest legacy may indeed be son Boomer, as portrayed by Daniel."

Daniel Edwards has been sculpting Olympic Gold Medalists for over 20 years. Coca-Cola, BMW, and United Way sponsored his Olympic portrait exhibit that followed the torch relay to selected cities and exhibited in the Olympic Village in Atlanta in 1996. His portraits are in the permanent collections of the National Art Museum of Sport and New York Athletic Club.

The "First Virtual Reality Monument" will open to the public at Irv Art at 206 South Audubon Road in Indianapolis in November. For more information contact Cory Allen at 323-393-3115 or visit http://www.cacanet.com.

Camp Miramichee Celebrates 100th Anniversary Summer Haven for Girls From 1916 to 1989

HARDY, Ark. -- As many as 100 former YWCA Camp Miramichee campers will gather at the site of their old camp September 16-18, 2016, to celebrate the venerable summer girls camp's 100th birthday, the Camp Miramichee Reunion committee announced today.

Generations of young women and girls from Memphis and the Mississippi and Arkansas Deltas attended Camp Miramichee in Hardy, Arkansas, from 1916 until it closed in 1989.

On the same weekend in Hardy, former Boy Scouts will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Kia Kima and the community of Cherokee Village will also celebrate its century mark. Some joint events are planned as part of this recognition of a century of camping in Hardy.

Camp Miramichee was founded in 1916 as a retreat for working girls. It maintained its role as a haven for working girls and their families through World War II, but in the 1940s also began to offer a program for younger girls.

By the 1950s Camp Miramichee was wholly devoted to providing leadership and athletic opportunities for girls 10 through 18, with canoeing, swimming, crafts, archery and other activities, as well the chance to flirt with the Boy Scouts.

In the 1970s because of increased development in Hardy, the YWCA moved the camp to a larger site farther up the South Fork of Spring River where it re-opened in 1979. A Christmas Eve tornado outbreak in 1982 destroyed the new camp. Undaunted, campers and staff pitched in to rebuild Camp Miramichee in time for the 1983 season.

In 1989 skyrocketing liability insurance rates forced the camp to close. However, in 2005 former campers began to reconnect and have held annual summer reunions in Hardy every year since, complete with white-water canoe trips and Indian dances.

For more information, see http://campmiramichee.org/ or contact Lyda Phillips: lydap@hotmail.com / 301-518-7538. Vintage and current photographs are available upon request.
