RMA's award-winning team of economic development and marketing experts will analyze the town's current brand and develop a comprehensive strategy to capitalize on the community's authentic assets and distinctive culture.

"The Town of Fort Myers Beach is an exceptional community undergoing tremendous growth," said Sharon McCormick, RMA's Director of Business Attraction & Marketing. For Fort Myers Beach, RMA is now initiating the Discovery and Research phase, where they will conduct a complete assessment of the current branding assets, review the Town's distinguishing attributes, meet with community leaders and town staff to define goals and create the strategy, tactics and budget. Following this process, RMA will present a new brand for Fort Myers Beach to Town Council including a new logo, marketing campaign and supporting collateral materials.

Fort Myers Beach is the only town on Estero Island, which is located off the southwest Florida coast. The town features a stunning beach along the Gulf of Mexico, the Matanzas Pass Preserve nature sanctuary, the Mound House, built on an ancient Calusa Indian shell mound, and an exciting shopping and dining center known as Times Square, as well as other unique destinations. Five Tips to Turn Tourists into Investors – Economic Development and Marketing Experts Develop ‘Investment Tourism’ Strategy

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- What if your city could implement a strategy that would transform tourists into long-term investors? That is the concept behind "Investment Tourism," a comprehensive Economic Development and Marketing platform developed by the award-winning principals of RMA (rma.us.com) and CJF Marketing International (http://www.cjfmarketinginternational.com/).

"The strategies behind 'Investment Tourism' help cities capitalize on their current tourism program by identifying enhanced opportunities, elevating engagement and creating clear pathways to connect," said Sharon McCormick, Director of Business Attraction & Marketing for RMA. "Through our companies' decades of work with cities, counties and special districts nationwide, creating both economic development and marketing programs, we noticed an untapped potential in the tourism area. The new protocols we are establishing for destinations will now enable them to take their tourism strategies to the next level."

Through targeted and tailored messaging, visitors will be able to view a destination as more than a vacation get-a-way. Expanding on a tourist's interest and connection to a destination, this platform will introduce the greater possibilities that await--be it a second home, a small business or a major development opportunity.

"Investment Tourism begins with an evaluation of a destination's brand, its leadership and support assets," said Carolyn J. Feimster, CRX, CMD, Founder and President of CJF Marketing International. "Competitive advantages are highlighted and a unique outreach program that interfaces with the key marketing and economic development strategies is implemented. Through enhanced social media, and growing tech advancements including chatbots, virtual reality and augmented reality, the targeted opportunities to connect and educate are growing exponentially."

For destinations that already have both a well-constructed brand and a Travel & Tourism Program in place, these five tips will help capitalize on the current tourism market:
* Craft social media/digital ads inviting tourists to discover investment opportunities in your area with links to a robust, highly functional economic development website that includes top opportunities for investment.

* Create tourism videos that include a call-to-action to learn more about investment opportunities. Feature real stories about living and doing business in your city.

* Include a call-to-action in tourism print ads to "own" a piece of your destination.

* Insert investment opportunity messages within district light pole banner programs, expanding upon the typical dining, shopping, entertainment verbiage.

* Invest in a mobile visitor information center. Educate and assign staff to the center, ensuring your visitors see the best your destination has to offer - with friendly helpful information about all your assets, including investment opportunities.

RMA and CJF Marketing International Introduce ‘Investment Tourism’ Platform

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- To celebrate Travel & Tourism Week and Economic Development Week coinciding in 2019, the principals of RMA (rma.us.com) and CJF Marketing International (www.cjfmarketinginternational.com) are introducing their new platform, "Investment Tourism." The economic development firm and the international marketing leader, both multi-award winners, will focus on creating strategies for their municipal, county, state and private developer clients who want to identify and market their economic opportunities to traditional travelers.

"Major foreign investment in our cities has long been courted, and tourism is an established economic development tool, but until now, no one has developed a tailored action plan for converting regular visitors into investors for specific areas," said Sharon McCormick, Director of Business Attraction & Marketing for RMA. "In my economic development career, I have seen it occur by happenstance on many occasions. But through Investment Tourism, we turn serendipity into a strategy."

The experts will provide clients with a multi-faceted approach, beginning with research, data analysis and positioning. From there, they will develop investment attraction strategies, investment alliance programs and business development & marketing strategies tailored to connect the area to the right type of tourists. Once travel and tourism tactics are in place and message points secured with the proper communications, then the team will launch into the economic development tactics, establishing initiatives to make it easy for a visitor to invest by having all the resources in place from expediting the permitting process to working with lending institutions, brokers and the legal process.

"Our goal is to capitalize and strengthen what we already know is happening by chance," explained Carolyn J. Feimster, CRX, CMD, Founder and President of CJF Marketing International. "When people visit places they like, they are often open to opportunities to purchase an additional property, expand their business or invest in a project. Investment Tourism connects the visitor to the destination opportunities and illustrates the business-friendly atmosphere and quality of life through targeted messaging strategies."

Although just officially launched, RMA and CJFMI are already working with two South Florida cities who are interested in building investment in their communities through this initiative. The new website, http://www.investmenttourism.com/ is currently in process.

RMA’s Redevelopment and Revitalization Plans Adopted by West Columbia, South Carolina

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- RMA (www.rma.us.com), a Florida-based consulting firm is expanding their client base beyond the Sunshine state. The economic development, redevelopment and business attraction experts were hired last year by the City of West Columbia in South Carolina to create a Citywide Redevelopment Plan and a Community Revitalization Plan for the municipality; both were unanimously accepted by the city council this month.

"Thanks to our success in helping clients reinvent their cities throughout the state of Florida, municipal leaders nationwide are also seeking our services," said Kim Briesemeister, RMA Principal. "We were honored to begin our firm's expansion with the City of West Columbia. Using our signature process, we evaluated the city's strengths and identified areas for growth. Through comprehensive market analysis and extensive community and stakeholder outreach, we were able create two long-term plans for the City."

The Citywide Redevelopment Plan identified opportunity areas that offer a significant upside for development. These areas and the identified catalyst sites will serve as building blocks for positive economic development including increasing the tax base, improving quality of life and providing a variety of new benefits to the community. RMA detailed specific ideas and concepts for each area throughout the entire city, which include the River District, the Meeting Street Corridor, Triangle City, the former Colite Property, District 5, I-26 and Highway 378 and I-20 and Highway 378.

RMA also created the Community Revitalization Plan which focused on ways to engage residents throughout the redevelopment process. Recommendations focused on building community pride, renovating homes and educational/ training opportunities to develop skills for working in hospitality & tourism, construction, culinary arts and more. The Plan connects people to the process of redevelopment to promote authenticity and community ownership of the vision.

"Our goal with these two plans was to position West Columbia in a progressive light," continued Briesemeister. "The plans work in tandem to benefit the residents, the business community and the stakeholders within the city. The plans, which are comprehensive and long-term, were unanimously adopted by the city council and will be now be prioritized for implementation."

RMA Proposed Innovation District Wins Major Award for Pompano Beach CRA

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- RMA (www.rma.us.com) is proud to announce that their proposed plan for the Pompano Beach Downtown Innovation District won the 2018 Promotion Award at the annual Florida Redevelopment Association (FRA) Awards. RMA managed the city's redevelopment agency for almost a decade and authored this award-winning plan for the creation of the city's downtown. The plan will transform undeveloped land into a vibrant urban area (downtown), becoming a revitalization role model for cities nationwide.

"We are tremendously proud of the work RMA team members did on behalf of this project for the Pompano Beach CRA," said Chris Brown, RMA Co-Founder. "The CRA benefitted from the talents of the entire RMA team for the creation of this ambitious program. We are especially grateful to Keila Rodriguez and Jessica Mulder who transformed this concept into a stunning presentation that has ignited tremendous interest in the Innovation District. Pompano Beach epitomizes the forward-thinking concept of building for 'how we will live in the future,' and this plan exemplifies that."

The Pompano Beach CRA knew it needed to devise an engaging and impactful way to communicate the great opportunities in the Innovation District. RMA's Rodriguez and Mulder created a comprehensive booklet and dynamic video to promote the Innovation District and tell the story of the steps the City and CRA have taken to bring prosperity to the community.

These marketing tools are now being used by the City, CRA, and by the Chamber of Commerce to attract new commercial businesses and developers, retain the existing industrial base, and continue to improve the neighborhood and quality of life of the residents, making the City, and in particular the Downtown, a more attractive place to live, work, invest and visit.

Future development in the Innovation District could include 750,000 square feet of office space, 166,000 square feet of retail space, 35,000 square feet of restaurant space, 1,500 residential units and two hotels. Job creation and other benefits will spill into the surrounding neighborhood and throughout the city.

Central to the success of the Innovation District is its unique approach to a new system of self-contained, linear waterways, which will create a scenic setting for outdoor restaurants, offices, shops and mixed-use buildings. Inspired by the waterway systems in Amsterdam, Netherlands and San Antonio, Texas, these waterways eliminate the need for dry retention ponds, allowing developers to maximize buildout across the parcels while creating an inviting and activated urban area that benefits the entire city.

About FRA:

FRA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting Florida professionals and volunteers in community revitalization efforts. With its mission of "transforming spaces, revitalizing places," FRA is committed to providing a forum for its more than 300 members to share knowledge and common experiences regarding revitalization opportunities and issues throughout Florida.
