LendingQB Introduces ‘Lean Lending’ Technology Model to the Mortgage Industry

Dateline: Costa Mesa, California (COSTA MESA, Calif.)  | Wed, 06 Nov 2013

Lean Lending is a technology strategy that enables lending entities to streamline processes, ensure compliance, and drive continuous organizational improvement.”

ARTICLE:

LendingQB, a provider of web-based loan origination software, today announced that it has officially launched its Lean Lending methodology for the mortgage industry. Lean Lending is a technology strategy that enables lending entities to streamline processes, ensure compliance, and drive continuous organizational improvement.

"We developed the Lean Lending model, in part, to introduce lenders to a newfound method that most have not thought of to change the way they handle their technology strategies, systems usage, workflow automation, compliance practices and more," said Binh Dang, president of LendingQB.

Dang added, "Lean Lending takes a holistic approach to lending that is comprised of three core components: one, streamline internal processes; two, compliance adherence; and three, ongoing organizational improvement. Companies that implement the Lean Lending model find themselves compliantly operating as a very lean, highly profitable, fine tuned mortgage assembly line."

By streamlining processes, lenders are able to create a seamless workflow, eliminate unneeded software systems, reduce manual touch points, maximize employee productivity, and effortlessly move loans through the lending process from cradle to grave. Using Lean Lending's approach to comprehensive compliance, multiple layers of compliance checks are implemented such as analytics tools, hard stops and red flag reporting.

The organizational improvement component of Lean Lending implements mortgage best practices, metrics and concrete data to continually optimize operations.

LendingQB says recent data shows that lenders' personnel costs per loan spiked 40 percent from 2009 to 2012 with costs being $2,353 in 2009 and jumping to $3,285 in 2012. LendingQB's Lean Lending approach is proven to dramatically reduce costs and help lenders operate leaner and more efficiently while remaining compliant.

Dang added: "Most lenders have a tendency to keep doing things the same way. They may buy a new technology platform, but they fail to take a holistic approach to solving their specific business problems and end up with a system that doesn't perform as expected, affects their profits, and will likely have them on the hunt for a new system soon rather than later. Lean Lending adapts to a lender's unique business model and actually becomes a part of their business strategy."

About LendingQB:

Shawnee Local Schools to Save $117,560 Annually Through Implementing Energy Conservation Project

Author: Energy Optimizers, USA
Dateline: Tipp City, Ohio (TIPP CITY, Ohio)  | Wed, 06 Nov 2013

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Michael Lamb, Superintendent of Shawnee Local Schools, is pleased to announce that the district is implementing an energy conservation project, to be implemented by Energy Optimizers, USA, to improve four existing academic buildings, reduce over-all energy usage, and save taxpayer resources.”

ARTICLE:

Michael Lamb, Superintendent of Shawnee Local Schools, is pleased to announce that the district is implementing an energy conservation project, to be implemented by Energy Optimizers, USA, to improve four existing academic buildings, reduce over-all energy usage, and save taxpayer resources.

"In an age of declining revenue and resources, the ability to reduce our operational expenditures through greater energy efficiency is tremendously important for the fiscal health of the school district. Energy Optimizers, USA, and SHP Leading Design have enabled us to save precious dollars that can be redirected into the classrooms for quality instruction for our students," says Lamb.

Energy Optimizers, USA, along with strategic partner, SHP Leading Design, has identified areas where enhancements should be made, to the local high school in particular, so the buildings can be more purposeful in their use of energy without compromising a comfortable learning environment for teachers and students. The district is utilizing a funding mechanism through the Ohio School Facilities Commission's House Bill 264 program so that the District does not have to ask for any taxpayer dollars.

Though the total cost of this project exceeds $1.1 million (prior to grants and rebates), the Shawnee Local School system stands to save a staggering $117,560 in annual energy and operations costs. As a result, the District can count on a 9.36 year payback, along with other post-project benefits, including energy management and energy education programming, in addition to increasingly efficient buildings that facilitate a productive and safe academic experience.

Energy Optimizers, USA developed a project for Shawnee Local Schools focused on lighting upgrades, which will significantly reduce electrical consumption across the district, in addition to upgrading existing mechanical equipment and retrofitting boilers. Both Shawnee High School and Middle School, along with Maplewood Intermediate School, Elmwood Primary School and the Bus Garage will all receive top of the line upgrades upon implementation of the energy conservation project including re-lamping and de-lamping fluorescent fixtures, occupancy sensors, exterior fixtures, steam boiler plant retrofits, computer upgrades, and smart controls on kitchen equipment.

"To date, SHP has helped over 35 school districts with energy saving initiatives," noted Charlie Jahnigen, Vice President of SHP Leading Design. "SHP has worked with Shawnee Local Schools since 2012 to improve their learning environments. Focusing on energy efficiency is a great step to long-term facility management," added Jahnigen. The breadth of project experience and commitment to a critical mission by Energy Optimizers, USA and SHP will serve this Lima-area school district well.

Additionally, students and teachers can expect to receive funding to implement an energy education program that allows students to take the Shawnee Local School District's sustainability efforts a step further by creating student groups called "Green Teams." The students who wish to participate in Green Team programming will participate in engrossing, educational STEM (Science. Technology. Engineering. Math) activities related to energy conservation, while encouraging their peers to become more environmentally conscious.

"It is always encouraging when the school district we are working with is as excited as we are to implement an energy conservation project," notes Bob Hausmann, Operations Manager for Energy Optimizers, USA. "Shawnee Local Schools' administration and School Board members are not only pleased to make positive changes in order to conserve both energy and taxpayer resources, they are passionate about creating better, more efficient facilities for their students and teachers. We truly look forward to helping them meet their fiscal goals and assisting them in championing a great idea - the idea that a 'greener,' more sustainable means of energy use is not only responsible and practical, it is preferable."

About Energy Optimizers, USA:

Energy Optimizers, USA works with Ohio school districts and government agencies to implement energy savings opportunities to reduce operational costs, including lighting retrofits, renewable energy projects (wind and solar), HVAC retrofit projects, building automation retrofits and energy education programs. TeamSnap Survey Reveals Youth Sports Require Heavy Financial Investment and Time Commitment

Author: TeamSnap, Inc.
Dateline: Boulder, Colorado (BOULDER, Colo.)  | Wed, 06 Nov 2013

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “TeamSnap, Inc., the world's leading web and mobile team and activity management service, released research today confirming that participating in youth sports requires a major time commitment and financial investment, according to their recent user study.”

ARTICLE:

TeamSnap, Inc., the world's leading web and mobile team and activity management service, released research today confirming that participating in youth sports requires a major time commitment and financial investment, according to their recent user study.

TeamSnap's application users access their teams using the web browser and TeamSnap's five-star iOS and Android apps. In order to learn more about user habits, TeamSnap surveyed more than 250 parents, managers and coaches about the amount of time and money spent on youth sports, the range of sports they are involved in and their communication habits.

Key findings revealed team managers and coaches rely heavily on smartphones to keep communication flowing freely throughout the week - and with good reason. Nearly 25 percent of respondents have kids participating in four or more sports per year, with the parents often spending 15 hours or more on youth sports activities each week. In addition to the time and communication strains, it's not cheap. Parents are not afraid to shell out the big bucks to keep their kids involved in multiple sports, with some respondents reporting they pay as much as $10,000 per year.

"This user survey confirmed our other data showing that TeamSnap users are involved in a wide variety of sporting activities," said Ken McDonald, vice president of Customer Acquisition at TeamSnap. "Through the survey, we learned that most coaches communicate an update to players and parents two to three times per week through the app. Also, 22 percent of team parents reported spending 15 hours or more on all child team activities each week-this is a huge time commitment for players, coaches and parents."

TeamSnap gathered additional insights into several areas of the youth sport industry, including:

* The highest percentage of respondents reported paying in the range of $3,000 to $5,000 annually for youth sports, and several reported paying as much as $10,000 per year.
* Nearly all users access the TeamSnap application from their computer while 70 percent access it from their mobile devices.
* The most common sport played by its users is soccer at 60 percent of respondents, followed by hockey at 14 percent, baseball at 13.5 percent and basketball at eight percent.
* The most common age bracket is 11 to 13 years old at 40 percent of respondents, followed by 14 to 18 years old and 7 to 10 years old, both at 20 percent.
* The most used features are the Team Schedule and Calendar Syncing features followed by the Email and Text Messaging Functions. The Roster Feature was next.
* A substantial 80 percent of the respondents were team managers or coaches; 54 percent communicate an update to players and parents two to three times a week, 34 percent spend at least 15 hours on all child team activities each week.

"We know our users are busy, so we always strive to learn more about their habits to make their experience as easy and helpful as possible," said McDonald. "As a global product, TeamSnap will continue to expand its service to meet these needs of coaches, parents and players all over the world."

About TeamSnap, Inc.:

Regent 8 provides Critical Financial Aid Management Support for Competency Based Learning and Direct Assessment Schools

Author: Regent Education
Dateline: Frederick, Maryland (FREDERICK, Md.)  | Wed, 06 Nov 2013

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Many educational institutions are grappling with the rapid adoption of Competency Based Learning and Direct Assessment models-particularly with regard to effectively managing Title IV financial aid, improving efficiency and regulatory compliance. Regent Education is proud to announce that Regent 8, their flagship financial aid management solution, is the first-and only-system designed specifically to accommodate those challenges.”

ARTICLE:

Educational institutions considering Competency Based Learning (CBL) and Direct Assessment models are grappling with the challenges of effectively managing Title IV financial aid. Today, Regent Education is proud to announce that Regent 8, their flagship financial aid management solution, is the first-and only-system designed specifically to accommodate those challenges as well as improve compliance and operational efficiency. Regent is under contract with some of the leading CBL and Direct Assessment institutions and is assisting several institutions as they review options for financial aid processing.

"We are very mindful of both the benefits and challenges of Competency Based Learning, and are pleased that we are able to resolve issues pertaining to financial aid for our customers," said Randy Jones, CEO of Regent Education. "It is important that institutions are able to offer these models to manage college costs, drive service and to remain competitive. We are excited to deliver solutions that enable schools to pursue these models and position themselves for the changing landscape in higher education."

"As more of the necessary elements for implementation are coming into place, there is increased momentum in the adoption of Competency Based Learning and Direct Assessment models," said Mike Offerman, a Higher Education Consultant and president emeritus of Capella University. "These innovative models offer great promise for improved service, performance and outcomes."

The escalating cost of a college education is a central topic of conversation in the media, in political circles, and often around the dinner table. Concerns regarding the cost of higher education are at the core of the Competency Based Learning movement. In light of President Obama's recent speeches regarding proposed changes to the financial aid funding model and his praising of Competency Based Learning, many institutions are considering incorporating Competency Based Learning models into their academic structure. However, the limitations of financial aid management systems have hindered progress at many institutions as they struggle with the inability to effectively manage Title IV financial aid.

Regent 8 is the only system designed specifically to accommodate these models, enabling schools to effectively implement non-term and self-paced models of enrollment. Not only is Regent Education helping schools to ensure they are able to maintain compliance, they are helping them take efficiency to a whole new level with end-to-end automation. Schools using Regent Education's Regent 8 financial aid management system have already positioned themselves for taking advantage of the benefits of Competency Based Learning, as well as for potential funding model changes.

Regent Education is currently hosting webinars to help schools understand the benefits, challenges and considerations when moving to non-term and Competency Based Models. To learn more about Regent 8, please visit: http://www.regenteducation.com/ .

About Regent:

Founded in 2006, Regent Education is a leading provider of software solutions that have revolutionized financial aid management and enrollment processes for schools using non-traditional enrollment models. Today, Regent 8, the eighth version of Regent's financial aid management system is the only solution that provides end to end automation for non-term, nonstandard term, and standard academic years. Regent SNAP enables schools to provide estimated awards to prospective students in 15 minutes or less-a process that normally takes days or weeks.

Regent is a nationally recognized leader in results-driven enrollment optimization and financial aid management solutions - solutions that are web-based, easy-to-use, and inter-operate with any existing student information system. Regent offers software-as-a-solution (SaaS) tools that help institutions increase enrollment, improve retention, speed student processing, mitigate compliance risks and deliver bottom-line results.

New TV Show Reveals the Impact and Importance of Neuromonitoring During High-Risk Surgical Procedures

Author: Neuro Alert
Dateline: Westchester, New York (WESTCHESTER, N.Y.)  | Tue, 05 Nov 2013

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Neuro Alert, a N.Y.-based healthcare organization providing neuromonitoring services for surgeons and hospitals, has proudly announced the completion of shooting their new educational TV Show for Public Access TV and other TV networks across the New York Metropolitan area. The show will start airing around November 15, 2013 on various stations.”

ARTICLE:

Neuro Alert, a N.Y.-based healthcare organization providing neuromonitoring services for surgeons and hospitals, has proudly announced the completion of shooting their new educational TV Show for Public Access TV and other TV networks across the New York Metropolitan area. The show will start airing around November 15, 2013 on various stations.

The 30 minute program about Intraoperative Neurophysiological Neuromonitoring (IONM) serves as a valuable guide to surgeons of all specialties, providing them with essential insights into this simple yet crucial technical procedure designed to protect patients and ensure safety during complex medical operations.

The TV Show produced by Long Island-based Multi-Media Group, took place at White Plains Cable, White Plains, N.Y. William (Bill) Boggs, an Emmy(R)-winning TV producer and journalist, conducted extensive interviews with surgeons and technicians who stressed the significance of real-time monitoring and shared their experience with this cost-effective and risk-minimizing tool.

"The program is interesting, informative and inspirational, reminding patients, surgeons and hospital administrators about the availability of sophisticated and rapidly-evolving technology," says Dr. T.V. Seshan, a founder and clinical director of Neuro Alert, who is also board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. "Fortunately, the latest technological equipment and software programs have the power to influence patient outcomes and prevent potential problems, accidents and injuries during surgery. We are glad that we are in a position to raise awareness of IONM and explain why so many people might benefit from this procedure."

The panel of experts, interviewed by Mr. Boggs, included the aforementioned Dr. T.V. Seshan, Dr. Ezriel Kornel (a brain and spine surgeon and assistant clinical professor of Neurosurgery at Weill-Cornell Medical College), Rose Auerbach B.S., CNIM (a certified neurophysiology technologist), and Dr. Joseph Annichiarico (board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation).

Intraoperative Neuromonitoring is the use of electrophysiological signals to monitor the functional integrity of nerves, spinal cord and parts of the brain during surgery. The purpose of monitoring is to reduce the risk of potential damage to the nervous system and enable surgical teams to take corrective action, if necessary. This technique has evolved during the last two decades and continues to gain momentum in the medical field.

About Neuro Alert:

Neuro Alert is a physician-owned and operated company providing intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) services for surgeons, surgical groups and hospitals since 2006. The rapidly-growing Westchester N.Y.-based organization was founded by Dr. T.V. Seshan - a renowned physician, specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation and a pioneer in intraoperative monitoring (IONM).

The simple yet crucial monitoring procedures, offered by Neuro Alert, are set up to detect any neurological deficits during major surgeries, allowing surgeons to gain instant feedback about their patient's condition and avert potential adverse affects.

Neuro Alert consists of a team of experienced and highly-skilled physicians and technical professionals who work together to enhance treatment precision, reduce physician liability and ensure patient safety.

Philippines Employs ‘Lumpia Strategy’ to Counter Chinese Expansion

Author: Friends Beyond Borders
Dateline: AYUNGIN ISLAND, Philippines (AYUNGIN ISLAND, Philippines)  | Fri, 01 Nov 2013

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “An under-the-radar struggle for disputed island reefs is evolving in the South China Sea, between China and the Philippines, and the tactics employed by each side are named after foods, according to Reina Prince, global strategist for the NGO Friends Beyond Borders.”

ARTICLE:

An under-the-radar struggle for disputed island reefs is evolving in the South China Sea, between China and the Philippines, and the tactics employed by each side are named after foods, according to Reina Prince, global strategist for the NGO Friends Beyond Borders.

The area called Reed Bank contains hundreds of relatively unimpressive deserted islands and shoals, but what is really valuable to both nations is under the surface. Some estimates are that the seabed beneath the area holds 55 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, as well as 5.4 billion barrels of crude oil.

China has aggressively asserted its claims to the area, sending more and more navy ships, research vessels, and fishing boats over the last few years. For its part, the Philippines has grounded an abandoned WWII era ship, the Sierra Madre, on a lonely reef in the disputed area, and manned it with eight Marines.

General Zhang Zhaozhong, of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, has described China's long term plan as "the Cabbage Strategy" which means the effort to flood a disputed area of island-dotted ocean with so many boats that "the island is thus wrapped layer by layer like a cabbage."

Referring to recent efforts to take land from the Philippines, Zhang said "We should do more such things in the future. For those small islands, only a few troopers are able to station on each of them, but there is no food or even drinking water there. If we carry out the cabbage strategy, you will not be able to send food and drinking water onto the islands. Without the supply for one or two weeks, the troopers stationed there will leave the islands on their own. Once they have left, they will never be able to come back."

The Philippine government has responded with what Prince calls the "Lumpia Strategy," named after the famous Filipino egg roll stuffed with vegetables (including cabbage) and sometimes meat. It aims to preserve Filipino sovereignty over the islands by maintaining possession and fishing rights. Mayor Eugenio Bito-onon, whose territory includes Ayungin Island, tries to help the military re-supply the troops on the distant outpost, for which he and the marines have been honored with the Adelina Award, but Chinese interference is making such efforts more and more difficult. Only sustained support from the people and government can keep the garrison intact.

On the Saturday night before Thanksgiving 2013, country music artist Sandra Piller will perform a special show featuring songs written by her mother-in-law. "Ruth and her main writing partner, Bill Katz, created a great many songs that were part of what used to be called The Hit Parade," Piller states. "I was so very proud of my mom-in-law, and it was always exciting to be part of such a creative family," she adds.

Roberts' son Michael, Sandra's late husband, was executive producer and writer for the "Star Trek" franchise, while her son Shawn is producer of shows like "Dead Zone" and "Haven."

The event will be Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Gardenia, located at 7066 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90038. Phone: (323) 467-7444. The club is near the corner of Santa Monica Blvd. and La Brea Ave. and street parking is available. There is a $20 cover and a two drink minimum (minimum waived with dinner reservations).

A fan of pop and country stars like Crystal Gayle, Patsy Cline, The Judds, and Kenny Rogers, she embraces songs that communicate directly.

"I love almost all country music," Sandra says, "and I really enjoy the storytelling aspect of those songs."

Sandra scored her single song publishing deal as a songwriter with legendary Sun Records icon and country music producer, the late Cowboy Jack Clement, and for the past several years she has collaborated with Nashville songwriting pro Jane Bach (Reba McEntire, Collin Raye, Jo Dee Messina). She has released three full-length albums and a recent EP, "Love Goes On," dedicated to the memory of Michael Piller. http://sandrapiller.com/ .
