Probiotics for Dogs and Cats? Benefits of Pet Probiotic Supplements Make Them a ‘Must’ for Pet Nutrition

A R T I C L E:

According to Susan Blake Davis, Pet Nutritionist at Ask Ariel Your Pet Nutritionist, "Probiotics for dogs and cats are quickly becoming an invaluable part of pet nutrition." More veterinarians are prescribing pet probiotics as they see how much these supplements benefit dogs and cats. Probiotics are friendly bacteria that naturally inhabit the digestive tract.

These beneficial bacteria can provide many benefits by promoting a healthy immune system, warding off pathogens and improving a pet's digestion.

Many dogs and cats suffer from chronic digestive problems including diarrhea, vomiting and even inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). As a result, pet owners are seeking more natural treatments as an alternative to pet medications in an effort to help their pet's long-term digestive health.

"Veterinarians are seeing the benefits of prescribing pet probiotics as they can help prevent recurring infections," says Davis. Just as probiotics are mainstream in human nutrition, they are now becoming an essential part of pet nutrition. She says that some pet food manufacturers are including probiotics in their pet food and treats and expects to see this trend continue.

"Probiotics are not just beneficial for dogs and cats that have digestive problems," says Davis. "They are helpful for overall good pet nutrition but can be especially helpful for pets with allergies and dogs and cats that have recently taken antibiotics."

Antibiotics can deplete the body's supply of "good bacteria" and supplementing with a quality probiotic can replenish this beneficial intestinal flora, strengthening the pet's immune system. Antibiotics, steroids, poor quality diets, exposure to outside germs and chemicals can all reduce the friendly bacteria in a pet's intestines making the pet more susceptible to disease.

Davis is concerned though that many suppliers of both human and pet probiotics use inferior manufacturing processes and thus the products either don't contain the live bacteria promised on the bottle or can't survive the pet's stomach acid.

When looking for a quality probiotic for your dog or cat, taking a close look at the product label and the company's manufacturing practices is important. Just because the label says "contains probiotics" doesn't mean the pet will benefit from them. Many products contain limited strains of bacteria, are not in a medium enabling the bacteria to survive or the potency and purity of the product has not been third-party tested.

Davis' company, Ask Ariel Your Pet Nutritionist, offers holistic supplements for dogs and cats which have been third party tested to ensure they contain the ingredients they promise.

Davis is passionate about holistic pet care and consults with pet owners nationwide, teaching them how to use nutrition and supplements along with conventional veterinary care to keep their pets happy and healthy.

Dating Book for Women Mid-30s and Beyond Finally Hits Book Stores: Don’t Settle; Discriminate; Stay Single if Necessary

Author: Hypothesis Publishing Company
Dateline: Miami, Florida (MIAMI, Fla.)  | Tue, 02 Jul 2013

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Available now from Hypothesis Publishing Company is the first-ever next-generation dating book, 'Lion Taming: How Busy Professional Women Avoid the Seven Most Disappointing Suitors and Date Higher,' by Corey Weiner. In store for readers is a concise, info-packed read encouraging women to discriminate - politely that is - in their romantic lives without changing a thing about themselves or manipulating others.”

A R T I C L E:

Available now from Hypothesis Publishing Company is the first-ever next generation dating book, "Lion Taming: How Busy Professional Women Avoid the Seven Most Disappointing Suitors and Date Higher," by Corey Weiner.

"Too many women settle. Roughly 90 percent of the dating pool for women in their thirties and beyond is a disappointment to say the least. Being attractive, successful and knowing it - can be lonely," says Weiner.

"Lion Taming" is available in eReader and Kindle format via popular retailers including Amazon, Barnes and Noble Booksellers and iTunes with special programs for book clubs nationally beginning in July.

In store for readers is a concise, info-packed read encouraging women to discriminate - politely that is - in their romantic lives without changing a thing about themselves or manipulating others.

Part socio-economics, part Freudian psychology is "Lion Taming."

"Remember: I'm not a life coach, palm reader, Greek philosopher or Doctor Ruth," says the author. "But readers will instinctively sense who is great, who is potentially great and which lions to avoid like quicksand within a few pages."

"To notice details," he continues, "so they - Lion Taming readers - can spend more time with the right fit and avoid the rest if they so choose."

Readers, book clubs and singles groups should participate in the upcoming "contest for the funniest dating disaster story" at http://facebook.com/liontaming and watch the video trailer at http://goodreads.com/liontaming .

About the Author:

Corey Weiner penned Lion Taming because too many women settle. And he resents it. He also ceases to subscribe to conventional wisdom on the subject. It usually disappoints.

Corey grew up among wildcats in a metaphoric jungle that is South Florida; a choppy terrain where "Dating Darwinism" reigns supreme and single status has its inherent challenges. He is degreed in political affairs, loves talking economics and is a published lifestyle writer and former fashion model who has appeared in Men's Health. He lives in Los Angeles, Houston and South Florida.

Team Seagraves of RE/MAX Alliance Tops List of Most Productive Real Estate Agents

Team Seagraves Ranked Among Top 1,000 in U.S.

RE/MAX Alliance - Team Seagraves the thousandDAYTON, Ohio, July 1, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — RE/MAX agents led the 2013 list of the top 1,000 real estate sales professionals in the U.S. as measured by the number of properties sold per agent, says RE/MAX Alliance.

Published by The Wall Street Journal and REAL Trends, “The Thousand” ranked the top 250 agents and top 250 teams for transaction sides and sales volume. When the 500 transaction standings are combined, RE/MAX agents hold 98 places. That’s one out of five – and more than any other real estate brand in the report, which ranks participating agents based on 2012 production.

Forty-three RE/MAX agents were ranked among the Top 250 individuals for most transaction sides. Mike and John – Team Seagraves of RE/MAX Alliance was ranked 229 on the Top 250 teams list.

“We’re proud of these RE/MAX agents for their outstanding professionalism and commitment,” said RE/MAX CEO Margaret Kelly. “Their dedication to their clients is why– year in and year out – RE/MAX sells more real estate than any other real estate franchise.”

Mike and John Seagraves have almost 30 years experience in the Dayton area real estate market.

“We’re seeing an increase in the market, and our office has been very busy,” shares Mike Seagraves. “There are a number of opportunities right now, no matter what your real estate goals.”

“The Thousand” results are not the first time that RE/MAX agents have been shown to be more productive. Earlier this year, RE/MAX agents were found to be the most productive in the 2013 REAL Trends 500 survey of the nation’s largest participating real estate brokerages, based on total transaction sides. RE/MAX agents averaged twice as many transaction sides per agent as all other agents.

Author: PowerGuard Specialty Insurance Services
Dateline: Irvine, California (IRVINE, Calif.)  | Mon, 01 Jul 2013

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “PowerGuard(R) Specialty Insurance Services today announced that more than one million insured solar panels have been reported to the PowerGuard Third Party Warranty Program and delivered into the Japanese marketplace. It allows solar manufacturers to offer clients the enhanced security of additional warranty protection in the unlikely event of a solar manufacturer's bankruptcy.”

A R T I C L E:

PowerGuard Specialty Insurance Services today announced that more than one million insured solar panels have been reported to the PowerGuard Third Party Warranty Program and delivered into the Japanese marketplace. It allows solar manufacturers to offer clients the enhanced security of additional warranty protection in the unlikely event of a solar manufacturer's bankruptcy.

According to Mike McMullen, co-founder and managing principal of PowerGuard Specialty Insurance Services, "PowerGuard is proud to support our solar manufacturing clients supplying the Japanese market. The Japanese purchaser is smart and knowledgeable about third party warranty requirements and solutions."

The PowerGuard program provides immediate coverage of reported panels without waiting periods, the significant exclusions found in other coverage, or substantial deductibles. The warranty is non-cancellable. In the event of insolvency it grants third party rights, allowing module purchasers to file claims directly with PowerGuard or the insurance company.

In addition, PowerGuard recently launched their "Warranty Verification Portal." The portal was developed to help those purchasing panels from PowerGuard's solar manufacturing clients to verify the existence of extended warranty protection. The portal will increase convenience and decrease risk for Japanese module buyers and the financial institutions that support them.

"The Japanese purchaser requires excellent warranty coverage without waiting periods and critical policy exclusions. Most important is the ability to file a claim directly with PowerGuard or the Insurance Company, if a manufacturer's insolvency should require it," added McMullen.

A global leader serving the unique risk management and insurance needs of renewable energy companies, PowerGuard spent several years and a million dollars researching the solar power warranty space before introducing their PowerClip(R) Third Party Warranty Product.

PowerGuard currently insures more than 30 million solar panels, with values exceeding $8 billion, for 14 major solar original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

A R T I C L E:

Neotrope(R), an advertising, marketing and PR firm launched in 1983, announced today the recipients of its annual Non-Profit PR Grant for 2013. Each worthy cause is a U.S.-based 501(c)3 charity 'doing good' on a local, or national level. As part of this in-kind grant program, Neotrope is providing PR solutions, news dissemination (through its Send2Press(R) Newswire service), online advertising, and social media marketing for the charities.

This cause-related marketing program is intended to help raise awareness of the 501(c)3 non-profits to traditional media, to the public, as well as to potential "halo" sponsors and donors.

"We're very honored to once again be able to do a little good in helping several worthy causes raise their visibility through traditional and new media," said Neotrope founder and CEO, Christopher Simmons, a member of PRSA and ASCAP. "This year we had to cut back a little, and will only have time and resources to work with five new charities, and a few orgs we have worked with in the past. This is our way of giving back where we can, and a great way to celebrate our 30th anniversary this year."

The 2013 J.L. Simmons Non-Profit PR Grant Recipients are (alphabetical):

Catalysts Powering Educational Performance (CPEP):

In 1986, a group of engineers, college faculty and secondary educators created an innovative out-of-school program designed to inspire and prepare underrepresented and underserved students to pursue science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers. Launched in one school with 40 students, CPEP is now in 11 school districts, 42 schools and directly impacting 1,500 students annually across Connecticut.

CPEP serves as a catalyst to change underrepresented and underserved students' knowledge, attitudes and behaviors toward the pursuit of STEM education and careers. Results indicate there is a consistent 60 percent increase in the percentage of students who desire to pursue a STEM career after just one CPEP experience and 90 percent of CPEP students report acceptance into college.

CPEP has won several awards recognizing the organization for its achievements and accomplishments, including the Turbo Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management by the Harvard Business School Alumni Association of Connecticut, the Golden Torch Award from the National Society of Black Engineers, the Presidential Award from the National Science Foundation for its Mentor Program in the New Haven Public Schools, and the 21st Century Solutions Award by NBCUniversal Foundation.

DesignWise Medical:

DesignWise Medical is a Minnesota-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2008 whose mission is to develop medical device and product solutions to children's unmet medical needs. It is a volunteer-based organization funded entirely by charitable contributions, foundation and corporate grants.

Children need devices that are safe, effective and sized appropriately for them. Technology already exists that could address many children's unmet medical needs, improving outcomes and quality of life and ultimately reducing health care costs. However, these markets are small, making it difficult for traditional medical device companies to achieve an adequate ROI.

DesignWise Medical is able to develop pediatric devices for approximately one-fifth (1/5) the cost of the traditional for-profit approach. Through the sustained involvement of pediatric clinicians, parents, sponsors, volunteers and students, DesignWise Medical is able to identify, create and deliver collaborative solutions to this underserved population.

To date, more than 280 volunteers have donated over 30,000 hours of their time working on ten active pediatric device projects. DesignWise Medical has sponsored 32 student projects at nine colleges and universities, providing learning opportunities for higher education student volunteers, helping them to succeed in today's competitive medical technology job market. (in Los Angeles county), Food Finders picks up donated food from hundreds of local grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants and produce markets and distributes it directly to more than 200 missions, shelters and social service agencies to feed the needy and impoverished.

For 2013, the Grant has been named after the company co-founder, the late Dr. J.L. Simmons, PhD, who passed away in 2003. Henceforth the Neotrope PR Grants will be known as the "J.L. Simmons Non-Profit PR Grant."

With this cause-related marketing grant program, Neotrope has been honored to help many worthy causes in past years, including Camp Blue Skies, Children Awaiting Parents, Fresh Start Surgical Gifts, Girls Write Now, Move for Hunger, The Native Voices Foundation, Special Equestrians, Starlight Children's Foundation, World Savvy and dozens more.

Grant recipients are selected by Neotrope/Send2Press staff based on qualified applications filled out and submitted by U.S. based non-profit orgs. With efficiency, sustainability, and cost savings in mind, Energy Optimizers, USA, along with strategic partner, SHP Leading Design, has designed the Deer Park Community City Schools project to include significant energy conservation measures that will result in a reduction of at least $45,352 in annual energy savings. The implementation of this project will ensure that both Holmes Primary Schools and the Deer Park Junior/Senior High School will experience building upgrades and improved utility efficiencies.

“To date, SHP has helped over 30 school districts with energy saving initiatives,” noted Charlie Jahnigen, Vice President of SHP Leading Design. “Since 2009, SHP has worked with Deer Park Community City Schools to improve their learning environments. Focusing on energy efficiency is a great step to long-term facility management,” added Jahnigen. The breadth of project experience and commitment to a critical mission by Energy Optimizers, USA and SHP will serve this Cincinnati-area school district well. The benefits of this partnership are multi-faceted in the sense that not only will the project be implemented in a timely and thorough manner, the mission of both companies is met by executing sustainable, responsible energy conservation projects while alleviating the costs associated with maintaining a comfortable and productive space for learning.

At a cost of $523,352, this project includes interior and exterior lighting updates, kitchen walk-in temperature controls, real-time energy management, and a variable refrigerant flow system in the High School’s computer lab and in Holmes Primary, which is vastly more efficient than the existing window units and will maintain a comfortable, productive environment for both students and faculty. In addition to the two-year energy management program, Energy Optimizers, USA will also provide funds to both the Primary and Junior/Senior High to implement an energy education program, which will be available to interested students.

“We are excited about the implementation of this project,” notes Greg Smith, President of Energy Optimizers, USA. “Through this process Deer Park Community City Schools will not only experience a reduction in energy consumption, resulting in a significant annual savings in utility costs, their facilities will be more efficient and sustainable. We have made a commitment to the educational institutions we serve to create a comfortable, environmentally responsible learning environment where students can flourish, in addition to providing funds to foster energy education.”

Energy Education Program
Energy Optimizers, USA will work with the school district to implement an energy education and training program, tied to the curriculum, for students and staff. Activities will include creating and implementing a district-wide energy conservation handbook incorporating suggested student and staff behaviors and expectations that directly affect energy usage, and having the school district qualify for and become recognized by the Federal Energy Star Energy Efficient Buildings Program.

Author: Baz Brown
Dateline: Gold Coast, Queensland (GOLD COAST, Australia)  | Thu, 27 Jun 2013

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “The world's first 'sand-resistant beach towel,' the Sandusa, is now available for pre-order on popular crowd-funding website, Indiegogo. Australian creator of the towel, Baz Brown, says the crowd-funding site is a good launch pad for the innovative product to reach interested consumers around the globe.”

A R T I C L E:

The world's first "sand-resistant beach towel," the Sandusa, is now available for pre-order on popular crowd-funding website, Indiegogo. Australian creator of the towel, Baz Brown, says the crowd-funding site is a good launch pad for the innovative product to reach interested consumers around the globe.

"Surfers and beach-goers will no longer need to shake their towel to smithereens just to get the sand off - the Sandusa is specially designed to repel sand, meaning you can leave the beach at the beach," Mr. Brown said.

"After years of testing, I have perfected the prototype and feel the Sandusa is ready to take the stage on beaches around the world, which is why I am launching it for pre-order on global crowd-funding site, Indiegogo.

"My goal is to raise $50,000 in 60 days. This amount will set the first production run of the Sandusa beach towel in motion, meaning the towel will be available by the end of 2013.

"Rather than getting regular beach towels for Christmas, you can deck the whole family out with the newest innovation in beach towel technology for a gift they'll never forget.

"Towels are available for individual sale or in packs of up to 10 - meaning the more you buy, the better value you get."

Despite the core surfing market, the Sandusa is not just limited to the beach. The "patent-protected" towel is designed with a waterproof layer, making it suitable for lots of activities.

"Apart from the beach and surfing community, I've had interest from fitness companies, swimmers and parents of young children, to name a few, that would love a Sandusa for a whole range of practical uses.

"That's the best part about the Sandusa - it can be enjoyed by anyone and everyone.

"Keep up to date on Facebook (/TheSandusa) and Twitter (@TheSandusa), and watch the video to see what it's all about.

"Most importantly, check out the Indiegogo campaign at http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-sandusa-beach-towel--2 and be the first of your friends to order the world's only sand-resistant beach towel, the Sandusa."

New York Fashion Designer Victoria McCooey announced today the launch of her signature line of accessories. Her designs feature wearable and home furnishing accessories embellished with the classic New Orleans symbol, the fleur-de-lis. The collection is opening with a line of fleur-de-lis embellished pashmina scarves, with beach sarongs and umbrellas to follow.

The Victoria McCooey pashmina is elaborately enhanced with hand-sewn metal charm designs in a silver-colored fleur-de-lis or bronze-colored crest. The scarf, 100 percent pashmina or pashmina/silk blend, measures 71 inches x 27 1/2 inches, and is delicately patterned in a tonal jacquard, each piece unique with its own inherent attributes.

The charms are carefully hand-sewn onto one long edge of the scarf to create a captivating necklace effect when worn. The scarf can be styled any number of ways: tied in front, draped over the shoulders, looped around the neck, or wrapped over the head a la Grace Kelly.

Victoria McCooey designs radiate casual and timeless elegance. Her accessories are adored by women of all generations for their femininity and sophistication.

"For me, it all started with my passion for the fleur-de-lis, an icon of New Orleans, my hometown," says McCooey. "The symbol signifies both grace and power - I want fleur-de-lis in my home, on my jewelry, on my stationery - anywhere I can imagine. Starting an accessories line showcasing them was a natural progression."

McCooey has spent many years as a fashion advertising executive and has seen a myriad of trends come and go. It was this exposure that led to her vision of understated yet dynamic design. She now lives on Long Island, New York (in a home filled with fleur-de-lis) with her husband, Patrick, her three sons, his two daughters and their dog, Harry.

McCooey's designs are available for purchase online through her website at www.victoriamccooey.com .

Alegria Farm announced today it has partnered with Orange County Produce, LLC, to offer a locally grown, certified organic, freshly harvested summer vegetable box. Delivering on its promise to offer the freshest produce available, Alegria Fresh's vegetable box is delivered within 24 hours of harvest and can be customized to suit individual tastes.

Orange County Produce, LLC, is managed by third-generation family members A.G. and Matthew Kawamura, farming over 800 acres within the urban boundaries of Orange County.

"Our family has been growing fruits and vegetables in Orange County for 57 years," said A.G. Kawamura, Founding Member, Orange County Produce, LLC and former California Secretary of Agriculture. "We are committed to continuing a tradition of farming in Orange County and providing the residents of Orange County with an incredibly fresh and high-quality product. We believe that local production of fruits and vegetables is a viable and important part of this county's future."

Alegria Fresh offer its subscribers and local chefs an array of seasonal vegetables including organic green beans, cranberry beans, yellow squash and green zucchini, cucumbers, red and golden beets, purple carrots, radishes, strawberries, blue, red and curly kale, green bell peppers and more, all grown in Orange County.

"A.G. and his brother have made tremendous strides toward improving nutritional content in the organic produce they offer in our local community," said Erik Cutter, Managing Director of Alegria Fresh. "They care about health and are meticulous farmers with great integrity and we are proud to partner with them to educate the public about the benefits of consuming fresh, locally grown produce. We are working together to create greater efficiencies by reducing waste and pushing new technologies to improve urban farming processes to meet the great challenges facing our food production and distribution systems."

The 12 pound plus box of vegetables is $35 including delivery within Laguna Beach city limits. Those outside of Laguna Beach can arrange for pick up.

"It doesn't get any fresher arriving from farm-to-table in a day," said Cutter. "Our new partnership allows us to create greater access to clean, fresh, certified organic produce containing the highest possible nutrition per calorie. Our discriminating clients can taste the difference and understand why super fresh is important to their health."

Through hydroponic vertical farming, Alegria Farm grows leafy greens, medicinal herbs and vegetables up to seven times more nutrient rich as anything found in the local supermarkets while using no soil, 90 percent less water, 70 percent less land and 50 percent less fertilizer. On special order, subscribers can receive these greens and medicinal herbs delivered to their door within two hours of harvest.

In addition to vegetables and greens, Alegria Fresh also offers sunflower sprouts and other microgreens such as fenugreek and pea shoots. Sprouted seeds are nature's most complete and nutrient-dense food, and Alegria Fresh delivers them within an hour of their harvest to retain their full flavor and nutrient load.
