Shake’d Technologies, Inc. is pleased to announce its teaming with Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Eitan Ben Eliyahu

Author: Shake'd Technologies, Inc.
Dateline: New York, New York (NEW YORK, N.Y.)  | Tue, 11 Jan 2011

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “Shake'd Technologies, Inc., a New York based firm engaged in the development, delivery and support of advanced rotary wing technologies has teamed with Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Eitan Ben Eliyahu to support its efforts and contract management to deliver a unique solution to actively reduce helicopter vibration for rotary wing users in both the defense and commercial marketplace.”

A R T I C L E:

Shake'd Technologies, Inc., a New York based firm engaged in the development, delivery and support of advanced rotary wing technologies has teamed with Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Eitan Ben Eliyahu to support its efforts and contract management to deliver a unique solution to actively reduce helicopter vibration for rotary wing users in both the defense and commercial marketplace.

"Mr. Ben Eliyahu's extensive experience allows him to understand the potential of CDB and the critical benefits it provides to its users," said Eli Navon, CEO of Shake'd Technologies, Inc.

Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Eitan Ben-Eliyahu served as the Commander of the Israeli Air Force (IAF). During his 38 years in the IAF, Maj.-Gen. Ben Eliyahu was an active fighter pilot in Israel's various wars and campaigns. Mr. Ben Eliyahu has since retired from active duty but still remains engaged in aviation and defense industries. Mr. Ben Eliyahu holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and Business Administration from Tel Aviv's Bar Ilan University and a graduate degree in Strategy and International Relations from Tel Aviv University. He is also a graduate of Harvard University's Advanced Management Program.

"The unique ability of CDB to immediately reduce overall aircraft vibration is critical to the aircraft and the user," said Mr. Ben Eliyahu. "High vibrations can lead to instabilities during flight making control difficult and in some cases impossible. These conditions affect fuselage and dynamic component structural integrity including onboard avionics and navigation equipment that can lead to catastrophic results."

"The current overall vibration levels in helicopters remain significantly higher than in jet-engine aircraft. Rotary wing operators around the world have borne the cost of dynamic component failure long before predicted time before overhaul (TBO). Reducing these vibration levels is essential to helicopters safety and longevity," said Mr. Ben Eliyahu.

The concern of helicopter vibration is so serious that government agencies around the world including US FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and IHST (International Helicopter Safety Team) are implementing programs to have all certified rotorcraft to be serviced or to have installed some type of vibration solution, and health and monitoring system. These actions are now being taken due to a number of helicopter crashes caused by mechanical component failures that have resulted in fatalities. "These fatal accidents could have been prevented using technologies such as CDB," said Eli Navon, the company's CEO.

The innovative process of CDB goes far beyond passively monitoring aircraft vibrations. CDB discerns the root cause of vibration related problems and provides a dynamic solution to significantly and dramatically reduce it, thereby increasing component life, reducing operating costs, and increasing safety of flight and mission readiness. CDB is concerned with a holistic approach to the aircraft health, rather than the analysis of separate components.

This unique and cutting edge balancing system is accomplished by applying the solution provided by the CDB algorithmic software that emphasizes the importance of the dynamics of the whole drive train, and the interactive components. Depending on each aircraft vibration profile (AVP), the system provides tailored solutions to each individual aircraft. CDB tunes each aircraft every 200-flight hours and verifies its low vibration environment, which also provides a smooth and safe ride. Onboard monitoring systems can detect unexpected behavior in vibrations and diagnose trends.

Customized Dynamic Balancing (CDB) is fully developed and proven to be very effective in reducing operating and support (O&S) costs and increasing both aircraft availability and logistics supportability. The technology is transferable and can be integrated (in part or in full) with current monitoring systems. For more information visit the CDB website at www.cdbdata.com .

BioJet Selected as First Pilot Company for Principles of Sustainability

Author: BioJet Corporation
Dateline: Wed, 18 Nov 2009

freeNewsArticles Story Summary: “SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- BioJet Corporation announced today that it has agreed with the Ecole Polytechnique Federal de Lausanne (EPFL) to serve as the first Pilot project company for the worldwide implementation of the Principles of Sustainability recently approved by the EPFL's Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels (RSB).”

A R T I C L E:

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Nov. 18 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- BioJet Corporation (www.biojetcorp.com) announced today that it has agreed with the Ecole Polytechnique Federal de Lausanne (EPFL) to serve as the first Pilot project company for the worldwide implementation of the Principles of Sustainability recently approved by the EPFL's Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels (RSB) (cgse.epfl.ch/page65660.html).

BioJet is a leading international supply chain integrator in bio jet fuel for the aviation sector.

The RSB serves as an international initiative providing the central point for the development of worldwide standards for sustainability in biofuels. RSB is developing the third-party certification system for biofuels sustainability standards, encompassing environmental, social and economic principles and criteria, through an open, transparent, and multi-stakeholder process.

BioJet is a member of the RSB and CEO Mitch Hawkins said: "Biofuels are all about sustainability. If the supply chain cannot meet standards of sustainability, you are just trading one form of damage to the environment for another. Being asked to serve as the first implementation pilot company by EPFL is indeed an honor. The project will proceed through the end of 2010 and will provide valuable insights into the challenges of implementing sustainability into the entire biofuel value chain. In our opinion, the EPFL Version 1 Principles of Sustainability may very well become the basis of future regulation in several regions of the world."

The BioJet company is particularly well suited to such a pilot project because it is the international supply integrator for bio jet fuel. As such, its operations touch feedstock generation, technology, refining, logistics, distribution, and eventual end use by the aviation sector user. Since, in its mission, the company is feedstock agnostic, over time it will utilize any and all economically viable and sustainable feedstocks and will utilize several different refining processes. This model gives the company an overview of sustainability issues not inherent in the typical biofuel company business model.

Hawkins went on to say: "We are glad to be working to help develop a clear path to implementation. Standards will have to flow through the entire biofuel supply chain from feedstock producer, to refiner, to intermediate handlers, to the eventual end user. Each will have to be inspected and certified, with certificates being issued and presented to downline entities."

BATAVIA, Ohio, July 14 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- "Ever thought about flying your own airplane?" asks Sporty's Pilot Shop. When you walk by the cockpit when you're boarding an airline flight, do you ever look inside the cockpit and wonder what all those buttons, screens and controls do? Some people look at pilots walking through airports and feel that they are a cut above everyone else. Maybe you've thought that you have to be some sort of genius to fly an airplane, but the truth is people just like you learn to fly their own airplanes every day.

Learn to fly an airplane onlineSporty's Pilot Shop, the world's largest supplier of aviation educational products and pilot supplies, has put you one step closer to flying with their new online flight training courses.

"You get everything in our Complete Pilot Courses, plus some," says Sporty's Academy President Eric Radtke. "Along with the award-winning video, you get interactive test preparation, an interactive maneuvers section, an online training syllabus, and the entire Federal Aviation Administration Practical Test Standards."

In order to become a pilot, three tests are required, very similar to getting your driver's license. First you must pass a written test, then an oral test, and then a flight test. A flight test, called a "check ride," is just like the road test you took when you got your driver's license, but this one takes place in an airplane. If you learn to fly with any of Sporty's courses, Sporty's offers you a Triple Guarantee. Sporty's guarantees that if you fail any of your three tests, the company will refund your money. You can't lose!

Sporty's Pilot Shop makes learning to fly at home easy, and you can do it at your own pace, with their course which guides you step by step. You don't even have to wait until you pass the written test to start your actual flight lessons. Visit any airport with a flight school, and you can start lessons instantly. That means you could be at the controls of an airplane, flying over your own neighborhood, tomorrow.

You may be thinking that learning to fly is too expensive and out of reach of the average person. What you may now know, however, is that most flight schools allow you to pay as you go so there's no large, out-of-pocket expense up front. There are also financing programs available.

Sporty's Pilot Shop is determined to share the joys of flying with as many people as possible. Picture yourself flying to a ski resort for the weekend or to cut out those long drives when you visit family and friends. If you enjoy fishing, being a pilot gives you access to many remote locations only reachable by air. Or you may be thinking of a career in aviation, as an airline pilot, a medevac pilot or a corporate pilot.

For people who are just learning to fly, you have a choice of pilot license. You can be a recreational pilot or a private pilot. For a description and comparison of each, visit Sporty's learn-to-fly Web site at www.learntoflyhere.com.

Whatever your reason for learning to fly - even if the reason is "because I always wanted to" - Sporty's will help you take the first step. The Recreational Pilot Course and the Transition to Private Pilot are each available for $99; the Private Pilot Course is available for $199, and the Instrument Rating Course is available for $249. Multi-user licensing is available to flight schools. All Sporty's products may be ordered at www.sportys.com or by calling Sporty's at 1.800.SPORTYS.
