La Tortilla Oven Acquires Patent Technology for Steaming Food

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- La Tortilla Oven recently acquired La Tortilla Loca and its intellectual property. As a result of this acquisition, La Tortilla Oven(R) is now the primary holder of Patent Number RE42311, the original fabric tortilla warmer designed to keep tortillas fresh and warm for more than an hour. And, it's using the technology to deliver a new and healthy microwave steaming method.

The two companies finally came to a resolution after a 10-year legal dispute surrounding the design, materials, structure and safety of this tortilla warmer. During that time, the two businesses learned about each other's business models and decided to settle out of court and move forward with the acquisition.

La Tortilla Oven is using this patented technology to launch a new end product - the Micro-Steamer - for vegetables. The Micro-Steamer conserves water and uses water already present in the vegetables to make the steam. The patented technology traps the heat and redirects it back into the vegetable, steaming it naturally and organically with the use of a microwave.

"After all, why do you need water to steam vegetables if the vegetables already have water in them?" asks Mark Alvarez, president, La Tortilla Oven.

And, water conservation is not the only benefit that the Micro-Steamer offers. This new cooking technology also helps vegetables to retain more valuable nutrients and speeds up cooking time.

"Boiling water to steam vegetables is a common, but cumbersome method," Alvarez says. "Boiling also dilutes the vegetable's nutritional value. The Micro-Steamer preserves the vitamins, minerals and nutrients, all without adding any extra water."

Additionally, cooking time can be decreased by more than 60 percent. For example, spinach and broccoli are steamed in seconds flat and potatoes and carrots are steamed in minutes so they're stew-ready.

And, due to its compact size - four ounces in weight and 10 inches in diameter - and durability, it's an ideal way to steam foods in places where space is a concern. For example, it's perfect for RVs, hotel rooms, college dorms and office break rooms.

"This highly anticipated and new way of steaming vegetables is really the most efficient and original way to cook healthy," Alvarez says.

About La Tortilla Oven, LLC:

Since 2005, La Tortilla Oven has been the leading manufacturer of insulated tortilla warmers in the U.S., Mexico and abroad. The company specializes in product marketing and brandbuilding solutions. Currently, the Micro-Steamer is available at Food4Less, Ralphs, Brookshires, H.E.B, Kroger stores, Reser's Fine Foods, Northgate Markets, Superior Warehouse, Vallartas and other fine supermarkets and retail outlets throughout the U.S.

Camp Miramichee Celebrates 100th Anniversary Summer Haven for Girls From 1916 to 1989

HARDY, Ark. -- As many as 100 former YWCA Camp Miramichee campers will gather at the site of their old camp September 16-18, 2016, to celebrate the venerable summer girls camp's 100th birthday, the Camp Miramichee Reunion committee announced today.

Generations of young women and girls from Memphis and the Mississippi and Arkansas Deltas attended Camp Miramichee in Hardy, Arkansas, from 1916 until it closed in 1989.

On the same weekend in Hardy, former Boy Scouts will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Kia Kima and the community of Cherokee Village will also celebrate its century mark. Some joint events are planned as part of this recognition of a century of camping in Hardy.

Camp Miramichee was founded in 1916 as a retreat for working girls. It maintained its role as a haven for working girls and their families through World War II, but in the 1940s also began to offer a program for younger girls.

By the 1950s Camp Miramichee was wholly devoted to providing leadership and athletic opportunities for girls 10 through 18, with canoeing, swimming, crafts, archery and other activities, as well the chance to flirt with the Boy Scouts.

In the 1970s because of increased development in Hardy, the YWCA moved the camp to a larger site farther up the South Fork of Spring River where it re-opened in 1979. A Christmas Eve tornado outbreak in 1982 destroyed the new camp. Undaunted, campers and staff pitched in to rebuild Camp Miramichee in time for the 1983 season.

In 1989 skyrocketing liability insurance rates forced the camp to close. However, in 2005 former campers began to reconnect and have held annual summer reunions in Hardy every year since, complete with white-water canoe trips and Indian dances.

Mid America Mortgage Executes Its First eClosing, eNote

ADDISON, Texas -- Mid America Mortgage, Inc. (Mid America) Owner and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bode today announced the firm has completed its first eClosing and eNote through its retail origination channel. Mid America intends to expand eClosing to all of its retail business, executing eNotes and utilizing electronic documents where allowed by local jurisdiction.

"Mid America's vision for its future is to conduct eClosings with eNotes for all loans across all origination channels," Bode said. "Furthermore, this strategy aligns Mid America with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's initiatives, as the CFPB has signaled its position that eClosing should be an option for all borrowers."

In September 2015, Mid America announced it would leverage technology from DocMagic and eSignSystems, in addition to its proprietary loan origination system Mortgage Machine, as the foundation of its eMortgage platform.

In addition to enabling greater efficiency and cost savings, eClosing also offers demonstrable benefits to Mid America borrowers and its closing agents, according to Bode.

"The biggest benefit we saw from doing our closing electronically was being able to receive and review the full closing package days in advance. Overall, the process was easy and didn't feel too totally different from when we signed the original loan application and first set of disclosures earlier in the process," said Megan Adkins, the borrower for whom Mid America conducted its first eClosing.

"From my perspective, the great thing about eClosing is, after the list of documents to sign is cleared, we know we have a properly executed closing set. Plus, we didn't have to scan or ship the documents after closing, which is a huge time- and money-saver," said Lisa Helmbrecht, branch manager and escrow officer with Homeland Title Company, who was the closing agent for the transaction.

In addition to its warehouse partners, Mid America has also been working closely with MERSCORP Holdings, Inc. and Fannie Mae on its eNote strategy.

"MERSCORP Holdings, Inc. is pleased to see Mid America Mortgage in production with eNotes," said Katie Paolangeli, Vice President, eCommerce & Industry Initiatives with MERSCORP Holdings. "Their integration effort showcases what a lender, vendor and investor can accomplish when everyone is working toward the same goal. This is an important step for them, and for the industry."

"Fannie Mae is proud to support Mid America in its eMortgage efforts," said Jennifer Parker, eMortgage Manager at Fannie Mae. "Mid America is leading the charge for many in the industry by breaking down barriers to entry and showing that eMortgages are possible. Ultimately, we know that eMortgages will benefit borrowers and create many efficiencies in the loan manufacturing process. This is the future, and the future is now!"

Later this summer, Mid America plans to launch eClosing for its mini-correspondent business. Eligible loan programs (*note 1) will include:

* Conventional loans
* FHA loans
* VA loans
* Section 184 (Native American) loans.

"Historically, warehouse lenders have been the less than enthusiastic about eWarehousing, but the tide seems to be turning," Bode said. "Several banks have expressed their desire to participate in eWarehousing. Once we get the program up and running, our goal is to purchase loans closed electronically from participating lenders' warehouse lines within two business days of funding."

For information on the Mid America eClosing Correspondent program, contact Chris Hartman at or your current Account Executive.

Market Opportunity in Excess of $38 Billion by the year 2020 as Integrated UC Heads to the Cloud, says Insight Research

DURANGO, Colo. -- Telecommunications stakeholders globally are staring at a multibillion dollar revenue opportunity as integrated unified communications (UC) graduates to the cloud. The opportunity has triggered a spate of attempts at alliances and mergers, underlining the need to project an integrated solution to the user. According to its latest market research study from The Insight Research Corporation, the opportunity will consist of three distinct revenue streams - solutions, services and connectivity.

Insight Research's market analysis study, "Cloud-based, Integrated Unified Communications Opportunity: Solutions, Services and Connectivity, 2016-2020," published in June, postulates that the openness in interfacing has allowed cloud-based UC applications to blend themselves tightly with business-critical applications and software. The perception of communicating over the cloud continues to be on a positive trajectory. Placing UC in the cloud makes it easier for a multitude of small and medium businesses (SMBs) to adopt it. Cloud-enablement also allows larger companies to have flexibility in providing access to remote locations, or test specific application scenarios. The CAGR in excess of 10 percent through 2020 presents a remarkably bright spot for telecom stakeholders.

"The migration of UC to the cloud alters the competitive dynamic of the UC marketplace altogether. Companies with Internet-based business models are posing interesting questions to the traditional network-equipment and enterprise software driven camps," says Kaustubha Parkhi, Principal Analyst at Insight Research.

"Additionally; with mobility poised to dominate connectivity revenues in the near future, cellular operators also find it worthwhile to develop cloud-based UC solutions," surmises Bob Rosenberg, Founder Insight Research.

"The Cloud-based, Integrated Unified Communications Opportunity: Solutions, Services and Connectivity Revenue Forecasts, 2016-2020" provides business revenue estimates for integrated UC applications, including instant messaging (IM) and/or social networking and presence; Internet protocol enabled private automatic branch exchange (IP-PBX); unified messaging (UM); and conferencing and collaboration.

Integrated, according to Insight Research, means that the above applications must be mandatorily present.

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Eularis announces the release of their one-day Masterclass "Using Artificial Intelligence to Transform Sales and Revenue: What Pharma Need to Know." Many Pharma sales and marketing teams do not understand the relevance, nor the critical importance, of AI to achieve stronger results in their roles, and believe it is not relevant to them or their job. Don’t Put Off Summer Tree Maintenance

TACOMA, Wash., Family Tree Care, certified arborists -- When you're busy with summer projects like painting, staining the deck, or inspecting your roof, don't forget about your property's trees, says Family Tree Care. A little tree service now can prevent winter trouble later.

Summer can be hard on your trees. When the heat kicks in, your trees might be under duress, so summer is an ideal time to prune, check for stability, and do insecticide treatments. In summer, the weather is clear and tree work can be done quickly and efficiently before rainy season and school begin.

"August is an ideal time to prune, fertilize, and inspect your trees for the coming winter," says Jay Brock of Family Tree Care. FTC is offering an August special. Schedule an appointment through August 31 to do a "summer tree maintenance check," and they will give you a 10 percent discount on any needed service.

Brock and Johnny Marth, certified arborists at Family Tree Care, are experts on what your trees need. "Call us and we'll take a look at your trees for free," Marth said. "We might see rot, or identify different diseases. We also look to clear service lines, remove overreaching branches that allow rodents to jump on the roof, and more."

Family Tree Care specializes in tree removal and cleanup, repairing storm damage, pruning, and beautification, and disease treatment. As ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) certified arborists, they offer a unique skill set. They are respectful of your trees and will save a tree instead of taking it down, if possible. If they can't save a tree that needs to come down, they will prep it to be used as firewood for the winter.

Brock says, "Poorly maintained trees can be a significant liability. Pruning or removing trees, especially large trees, can be dangerous work. Tree work should be done only by those who are trained and equipped to do the work safely."

Family Tree Care serves the greater Tacoma, Lakewood and Puyallup areas and are bonded, licensed, and insured. They pride themselves on having a highly skilled arborist on all job sites.

This local business is known for the quality, speed, and professionalism of their tree services. For more information, visit their website - - to schedule a free estimate or contact Family Tree Care at (253) 234-GROW (4769).
